How to reference this paper
4

My library didn't have subscription to a journal, and the one-off fee to buy the article was too much for me. So I contacted the author and he sent me the paper; but the unedited version. He says the published version received minor revisions and he lost the electronic copy of this version. How should I cite this paper; can I still reference it to the journal article?

I don't know the answer but I just wanted to admit that it's one of my favourite questions on this forum. I don't do labwork, but I can't wait to see the answer

VeryPoor, I hope it's not H that you want to report. We all like her very much, we would be so upset if you did

Yes, if you go to the Rules page, there is an email address there. (I'm so curious, what do you want to report? Ok, I admit that's a silly question )

Getting funding for PhD

wuyeh, you are repeating yourself on your replies in my opinion. You are accusing people for "missing the point" over and over, but you are not paying attention to people's (very logical) opinions just because they are not confirming what you say.

here is an interesting fact

Relationship break up for a PhD student

so sorry to hear this

It's such a tough one, I hope you'll find the best way to recover from the horrible feelings. I think we all can understand and relate to the pain. I wish we could make it disappear for you, but it's not possible. At least try to come to forum to get things out of your chest when you feel down. You'll always get sincere and friendly replies from people.

big hug to you...

Turning down studentship last minute
4

I was in a similar position when I first applied for studentships. My advice is also to be as honest and polite as you can when refusing the studentship. But be ready for a childish and aggressive reply. The reply I got from the supervisor that I turned down the studenthsip with was quite harsh and unprofessional. He accused me with being selfish and wasting his time in gathering funding for my research.

Register with a good recruitment agency that is specialised in your subject area and hires good recruitment consultants who come from your field instead of random areas. You can then get them to create a profile that highlights your experiences and skills from your PhD and combine that with your previous qualifications.

If you don't mind me asking, why did you apply for it if you thought the distance was a problem? You can always work out some arrangement. Once you start, things will move easily. You might be able to do your teaching as 1 full day a month or something, if you can come to some kind of arrangement with your university. I am funded and I live 3 hours away from my University. I work from home, and go to my University once a month or every two months. It worked out just fine. Good luck with everything.
