I used to repair old photographs for extra cash during my 1st degree. That was the best money making project I ever had. A photography studio used to introduce me to their clients for the retouching jobs they couldn't do themselves at the studio, and I would get paid for making old photographs look new again. Once I made a whole photograph from a a very old half one; the client cried because this was the only photo of his father who died when he was young, and now it was great to see him for the first time

If you have already done 2 masters, this suggests to me that you have already changed fields. I don't think changing fields again would help, unless you really hate your subject.

How long have you been looking for a PhD place? I assume you are looking for a funded place. It is still possible to get one, as many Universities are still advertising. Don't give up.

And, I can list you worse problems and tell you about people with horrible life. I don't think your life sucks. It is just a temporary state of mind (I hope). Feel free to write more, we will do our best to give advice.

Are you funded by anyone (university, research council or a private company)? If so, your bank would understand your situation. Did you speak to the manager? Or, if you are applying for an online loan, don't tick the student box (because they will assume you haven't got a regular income) but tick the "employed" or "other" box and state that you are a PhD researcher / doctoral student. It's only £1000, so your income (if you are funded) should be enough for that amount.
