I've already reserved the 999th post. But I'd better make sure I get it this time, 909 was gone even though I reserved it

Seems to be a common thing. A similar thread is posted on Off-topic today.

Don't give up Matthew82. There is still time. Some departments even advertise during the summer for the next term.

Are you keeping an eye on guardian jobs and jobs.ac.uk sites, as well as this one? Also visit the Universities' vacancy pages. Some don't advertise anywhere else.

Application form for a job after PhD

Thanks lr261. That's also very useful.

The reason why I mentioned that I work from home in my question was related to my PhD contract being attached to a "residency". My contract has not changed, it still says Phd Researcher/Resident blah blah on it. But I have left my university town 1 year into my PhD. And the residency side of the things are a bit more faded in practice, as residency requires being there. On the other hand, the residency aspect of it makes my PhD a job in a way. I don't know if I make sense...

Can I have your opinions on this one please:

I can't decide whether I should put my most recent (teaching) job or my PhD in the "Current/most recent employment" section of the application form, for a tutor/lecturer job application at a UK university. The reason why I'm confused is, although now I'm working from home, initially my PhD contract comes with residency. And my most recent proper job goes back to 2004-5, which will look too ancient and too part-time. This section is on the first page of the form, that's why I worry that this might make them ignore the rest of the form assuming I was out of employment since 2005.
