I've watched that too H Yes the mice looked so cute, but I can't say the same about the one with an ear on his back, or the featherless chickens

I suppose it would create similar effect to asking if they will supply a company car

I haven't submitted an application yet (deadline is end of April). But as they have that pay scale, there wouldn't be any harm in asking

I am looking at my options for next year. In some fellowship programs they advertise a salary range instead of a fixed salary, such as: from £25,000 to £31,000 pa plus London Allowance of £2,497 pa. according to experience.

How do they decide how much to give to you? Of course everyone would want the 31k per annum, instead of the low end of the grade. When it comes to experience, do your employment in the past (before PhD) count for example?

I don't want to sound horrible but it must be something to do with upbringing and education. I remember growing up thinking books are valuable things, we need to respect them. Not in an admiring way, but seeing them as things to last and being resources other people can use too. My mother reads a lot, and she taught us at a very young age not to mark books, not to fold pages etc.

That's very annoying juno. I know it will sound like a pointless rant to some people but treating a library book like that is a very thoughtless thing to do.
