nice thecoastman But worry if you start naming the players with terms or microscopic creatures from your research.

really? I am very surprised to hear that. But on the other hand, our University has weird obsessions about using their logo. Even when it comes to promoting them via our research results etc, they need to "think" about letting us use the logo.

rant: why people ruin library books with their notes and highlights etc.

grrrrrrrrrrr.. this is the 4th library book today that is full of notes, underlines and highlights from the previous borrowers. I hate it. It makes it so hard to get into the text and read properly.

but that rule applies to speeches about your university and/or its projects

Phd abroad- any chance?

if you find a clever way of justifying that you need to collect data or something.... why not, it would be nice to spend some time in a nice hot country

ours learned from their mother (mother still lives with us). But as soon as their jabs were complete, we installed a cat flap. They haven't needed a litter-box in the house since, so no more smell in the house

How to make a poster?

-good method of communication: the format pushes you to say as much as possible within so little time and in a set of boundaries. Not only the physical space is limited, but your audience is wider.

-they save time: they don't take too long to prepare, they take so little effort, and you appeal to more people, and they get to see your presentation in their own time, not yours.

-they allow you to network: I've never met anyone who didn't get to meet new people from their industry and other academics from multidisciplinary research areas, after presenting a poster.

You are allowed to your opinion of course, please don't get me wrong.

of course they are valuable for the research. What makes you say that they aren't? They are a good method of communication, they save time, and allow you to network.

yes, especially in spring time.

Referencing websites: access date and copyright date
4

I think you are right. I'll change them to last access dates too. A few things I gathered from the University libraries' guides:

- On web pages, year should be the copyright year. If it's not available, then the "last modified" date. If none available, put (n.d.) (for ‘no date’, both on citations and bibliography).

- On web documents, same as above, but if there is a date quoted in the document, different than the website's date,.. use that one.

- Access date should be the "last" access date.
