My literature review chapter won't write itself, and I find myself coming to the forum far too often, reading entries, refreshing pages etc. :-(

Mother's Day 18th March!

In my country, mothers day is 2nd Sunday of May. So I have to remember two mothers days a year. One for my mother, one for my boyfriend's. We usually get his mother roses etc, my mother just gets an email as she is a hardcore feminist turned softy in her older age, who in recent years started to demand attention on mothers day

rohitdrl, I agree with everyone on this thread. It doesn't sound right, unless you are from a foreign University but even then you get access to Athens. You should check with your subject leader at your University Library. If what you say is correct, they should still be able to help you out.

Have you looked at the "Authoring a PhD" by Patrick Dunleavy? It was suggested by someone on this forum, so I got that yesterday and I wish I read it before. To be honest, I assumed it would be just another PhD book and ignored it all this time. But it has very good time-saving advice.

you are not alone blueunderneath. I am in a similar situation (could be even worse); so are thousands of other PhD students. I find myself doing stupid things like tidying my references, reading even more stuff as if I don't have enough research, helping friends with their work and online shopping/selling in order to avoid my work. I only have 2 weeks to finish a chapter and there isn't even one good sentence written.

Good luck with your work..

wow, has it really been over a year since this thread was created? It feels like yesterday .

fretfulporpentine, why are you digging out old threads? It is very DanB-like behaviour.

aw DJWickid, I wish you all the best. I hope you won't have to stay in the hospital. But if you do, you can be sure that we will start a "things to do in hospitals" list for you

before you make your decision, you'll probably get a chance to see the labs, talk to current PhD students and ask them about their experiences. If they don't offer you this, don't hesitate to ask.

Are you going to work in your PhD during the summer?

Are you going to work in your PhD during the summer?

I can't help reading the title of this thread as if PhD is a kind of clothing. Like "Are you going to work in your pyjamas during the summer"

H, it's going to be the biggest (and the first if I'm not wrong) wedding of PostgradForum. We all are looking forward to it

ours cost a lot too. It is 75% of £1187. Daylight robbery, considering we get appalling service from the council.

H, I am not sure if it's the same in every borough, but we live in Lambeth council of London. My bf gets 25% single person discount, from the total council tax. Because I am full-time student, council ignores me as a 2nd adult. We need to fill forms once a year, and I send them my council tax exemption certificate that I was given by my Uni.
