Council Tax exemption

Otto, when you start to live with a partner (or 1 adult) who works, you don't get 25% discount. What happens is, you continue to be exempt from council tax, and they continue to use their single person discount which is 25%.

The situation is different when there are more adults in the house.

Hi DJWickid. Did you have the operation? How are you feeling?

Anyone not using Endnote?

So far it looks easy and straight-forward. Especially when I had to transfer my existing non-EndNote database as well as enter some new ones into a new library. However, I hear people talking about problems and bugs at later stages. The only problem I experienced is saving journal articles as Ancient Text type from some reference sites, but apparently the new update fixes this fault.

Application Process Inqury

Depends really on the institute. When I wrote my proposal (almost 3 years ago now), I applied to a few different universities with it. In two cases, there wasn't really funding or place advertised, I contacted the supervisors casually. On another occasion, there was funding advertised but they were looking for new proposal.

Hi H, that was my question in a way. Does that mean I need to have two entries for that book? One as edited book and one as book section. So when it comes to listing the biographies, EndNote can list the book as edited book (instead of my having to change the reference type manually for each edited book that I use a reference from).

2 questions re citing/references

I would be grateful for answers:

1) Is it ok to cite someone's PhD thesis? If so, how?

2) There is one small section in a journal article that cites a book. I can't get hold of that book, but the info on that paragraph is very important for me. How do I reference this?

have you tried the update patches on the website? They usually fix the bugs. They also list on that page what bugs are fixed with what updates. (I don't know if they really work as I am quite new to the program)

Endnote: Book Section and / or Edited Book

sixkitten, I'm not going to cite the whole book when I'm only referring to one chapter. But I want to list them as edited books in my bibliography separately (in some cases, I read the whole book but just cited from a chapter). There are more books in my bibliography then in my references list, same as everyone I suppose.

H, I'm using Harvard style too.

jojo, and Zelda, I couldn't make it work but it might be my fault as I haven't done this before (I used to use my own system in Access program). I wonder if 2 entries is the best solution...

Thank you. That makes sense. I will try and create a sample list to test that now.

I am quite new to EndNote. 3 year into my research, I had to import all my bibliography database into EndNote (long story). I have a problem with reference types (sorry if it sounds like a very simple stupid question). It is about listing references and bibliography:

There are some edited books where I'll need to cite the chapter's author, rather than the editor. So should I keep the reference type as "Book Section"? If this is the case, do I then have to create another entry for the same book as "Edited Book" so EndNote can put this book into the Bibliography section with the editors' name? Or is one entry as "Book Section" enough? In other words, when formatting I want EndNote to be able to put the author of the chapter first in references, but editor of the book first in bibliography.
