shanghaichica, majority of the people responded to this thread are older than you. We even have a 103 year old person. What more do you want

Oh nooo! :( I'm so sorry to hear that H. Homeopathic remedies sometimes work wonders. Have you tried arnica cream and arnica tablet?

I agree with you kronkodile. I am happy that I have years of life and relevant work experience prior to my PhD.

Thank you blue, great suggestions. I'll try a better pillow too (I managed to buy a very dodgy so-called Orthopaedic pillow from ebay last summer).

If it repeats, you better see your GP. My sister had a similar problem, it's a long story but she wouldn't have to put up with the consequences, if she got it checked early enough.

PhD interview - presentations??

I had to do a presentation for my PhD interview. They asked me to prepare a 20 minutes talk about my proposal with slides, images etc. Basically, I had to present my proposal to pitch for the studentship.
