I was wondering if you to pay Journals to publish your articles (i.e. when they accept to publish them). The recent I am asking is because I did not think you had to pay but I found an Open Assess journal that was relevant to my topic and it states that you have to pay approx. 1,000 euro for article processing charges.

Hi,

I will be using the survey research methodology for my PhD and I want to attend a workshop/course on this methodology. I have attended methodology workshops before where survey research was discussed but not in a detailed manner. I want to attend a more intensive survey workshop/course. Does anyone know if this type of workshop/course is ran anywhere in Europe? Even better, if someone has attended one in the past and could give a personal recommendation it would be great.

Hi,

I have been asked to prepare a progress report on the work to date I have done as a first year PhD student. This report will be read by a research committee (made of professors in my discipline). I will also have to give them a presentation. I am 9 months into the first year of my PhD. For the first 5 months I was doing the PhD part-time. For the last 4 months I have been doing it full time. Can anyone suggest what I should include in this report/presentation? Also what would there expectations me regarding the amount of work I have done so far as a first year PhD student?
