How long does it take you.

I'm freaking out again, but I promise I won't keep you very long on this one, so...

How long does it take you to write approx. 10,000 words? (research and write)

It would really, really help me if people could be kind enough to share this with me coz I am really starting to lose confidence now. I'm not totally behind or anything like that (not yet anyway!), but I'm a bit worried that I'm not working fast enough.

There's a star in it for everyone... ;-)

Thanks for all your advice guys - you are all absolutely right.

The notes that I've made aren't brilliant to be honest because I was trying to skim through it too quickly. This isn't like me at all - normally I make loads of really GOOD notes, so I'm a bit disappointed with myself there.

I think I'll try that mytomatoes website so I can cut the workload into little chunks - it might help having a little alarm to tell me that I can take a break too.

Thanks again

Thanks for your reply Verypoor. Thankfully I don't need to see the supervisor after reading it - getting the book all read by tonight was part of my own personal plan, as I have created quite a tight schedule for myself in order to accomplish the main 7000 word deadline at the end of the month, which the supervisor WILL see, so that's the important one. Not having the book read when I had planned to still really worries me though, because I've got a lot of other work to do aswell, and now this stupid book is just going to cut into that stuff.

If I didn't worry about it so much I would probably really enjoy reading it. I really do want to be more patient with my understanding of this material, but when it feels like I'm getting behind I struggle to understand it, let alone enjoy it.

Just a moan really, but need to get it out.

I was supposed to have finished reading this darn book this weekend, but I've still got about 300 pages to go!!! It's Sunday night now and I just don't think it will be possible to get it all read by tonight, and even if I try I probably won't remember anything I've just read!!

300 pages probably doesn't sound an awful lot, but oh my word is this book tough! It speaks to me in a tongue I am just not getting - a load of ole mumbo jumbo.

The thing is, I don't have much choice. I HAVE to read it - it's what my next 7000 words is going to be about.

I'm making little notes as I'm going along, but when I go back over them they just seem a load of nonsense!

Is this common, and does anyone have any tips on how to overcome this stupid little episode?

I've only got just under a month to get the 7000 words done, and at this rate it feels like I'll end up handing in a load of rubbish. :-(

How often do you see your supervisor?
C

About once a month, which is nice because it means that when we do meet up I always have loads of fresh ideas to throw at him. I think we will be having more and more meetings as time progresses though, but I will definitely be keeping my distance and keeping it professional, friendly, and polite. I do feel really lucky to have him as my sup though - couldn't have chosen anyone better really. :-)

hair question again
C

Yeah, long hair can be nice (feminine and all that), but sometimes I think about getting it cut a lot shorter. I wouldn't have the guts to, of course, but shorter hair does make some women look so much more sexier and sophisticated-looking.

You're probably right there Natassia - if I was gonna dye my hair I would get it done at the hairdressers. I have seen some disastrous results from friends who have home coloured. I have nothing against people with ginger locks (I happen to think that it is a very beautiful hair colour), but my oh my was my mate upset when she tried to colour her hair a brunette shade and it came out ginger.

The 'long mess look' is particularly fashionable at the moment, so you're probably fine for the time being. :-) Come to think of it, you'll probably lose 25 stone though just from getting it cut shorter wouldn't you?

I've gone off the snow

I completely agree with you there Ogriv. It was fun at first - I had a huge urge to run around like a headless chicken onto every patch of snow that hadn't been touched or walked on (god that was fun!), but now it's just getting annoying.
Lately I have found that I work much better in the library, but the darn library is closed!!

I can't wait for things to get back to normal now - dreading all the slush to come though. Urghhk!

Please can I ask a question about hair? (Inspired by Satchi)
C

I think you should grow it long so it looks lushiously curly and sophisticated (just below shoulder length), OR
Grow it to shoulder length and back brush it into an afro (sprout)

hair question again
C

My hair's quite thick and really long (half way down my back). It's a pain in the arse when I wash it because I have to stay in til it's dry - but it gives lovely results the next day, so it's worth it.

I know this isn't the kind of answer you are looking for, but I think you should keep it natural. It looks so much better and is so much more healthier for your hair.

I have never dyed my hair, and I too get compliments from the hairdressers about how nice they think my hair is. Saying that, I don't blow dry it either, so that's probably why it is so healthy (no split ends etc). The downside is that it takes about 3 hours for my hair to dry!

I find that my hair goes static if I use a hair dryer. If you want it looking shiny and straight though (and free from static), use a bit of hair serum while the hair is damp. It really emphasizes the natural colour of your hair too.

*sigh* So much reading... I'm getting to the point now where everying I'm reading is all mushing together. I don't have time to go back though - Pants.
I'm making notes in the book as I go along, so hopefully it won't be too painful. :$

Did you manage to get your chapter done by friday Joyce? I would love to be able to work that fast.

Hope all is well for everyone
