transfer questioning....harsh times!
C

ashpan, UFO and jojo have both given valid comments. Like jojo pointed out, its about your work, its got be tested somehow, whether harsh or not. Besides, you're the one who knows more about what you've done, so just show potray that knowledge to them. I've been in that same boat before (not PhD) then i felt that my assessor was trying to catch me out but all i had to do was demonstrate my knowledge and it was fine. Best wishes

Offered MPhil and a job offer
C

It might be possible to accept the job offer, work there for a year or two. You may then be able to take on a research project in your company that a university would approve suitable for a PhD. So in the end, you would have contributed something substantial to your company and obtained your degree as well.

Just an idea.

waiting for a Viva ... will be easy !!

Well, if your supervisor has told you not to worry, then please do! (alright, just kidding) Now, I think you should ask yourself whether the content of, rather than the writing structure of your thesis is enough for you to pass.

Best wishes

Pregnancy vs PhD - advance preparation!
C

By the way, emmantro an academic was sharing his life story with me the other day (we were standing outside waiting for the fire alarms to stop) about how he started a degree in his late 30's, with a family, and still got a first, plus how he had to fight for a studentship (with the aid of his supervisor). It was the most amazing story of determination i've ever heard. So it is possible to do a PhD and still maintain a family. But who says it'll be easy.

Hi last-samorai. First of all, congratulations on your submission. Your stlye of writing will certainly affect the way your results are viewed by others. If it is not done in a presentable way, then those who you are trying to get your results across might not get the message the way you intended it. However, it depends. if English is not your first language and you're not resident in a country that does not use English predominantly, you might be given some slack by your assessors (maybe)

Why?,Oh Why? Oh Why!?.......

In the UK, men are now entitled to paternity leave for certain amount of weeks. I'm not sure how many at the moment.

hi Juno. I would say that this subject has to be looked at with a combination of the two- both logic and feelings. But your views are more than welcome (and i'm sure by everyone) even if you do not wish to have children.

Well sassy, let's assume i have begun and i wanted to start a family sooner. I am sure colleagues would be alright with it and definitely give all their support but my superviosr might have reservations which he might not be bold enough to say in my presence. But I won't care what he thought anyway. It would not be a foolish endeavour to have kids at that period, besiedes people have coped with a lot more in their lives and still came out on top.

By the way filmfundi78, i like that 'blessed mistake'

Did you all have a nice weekend?

Its not that personal. Personally, i know i'll have kids someday in the near future but i'm not sure of the next couple of years with me hoping to start this year an all. Its harsh if all woman think of themselves as infertile. You're all wonderful creatures, don't you know
