Hi Angelo, welcome to the forum!

All the universities you have listed are very well renowned in the UK and abroad, and a masters degree from any one of them would be a great career choice. I think if you have a masters degree from anywhere, it makes you stand out to employers, and an enthusiasm for your subject is the main quality you need to show organisations.

I do know someone who did Aerospace Engineering at Sheffield University and he now works in the US so there are definitely job prospects in your field. Good luck!

It's difficult to say as there are several reasons why the paper could have been withdrawn. Sometimes it's just due to the fact that the paper hasn't been updated in a while and is considered to be "dated". There could be reasons of fraud or misconduct which has lead to the retraction of the paper. Sometimes you can find out why this has happened after a bit of digging, but if there is another version of the paper available it might be better to use that instead.

It all depends on which course you are applying for, as entry requirements differ at each university. Typically, those universities with higher rankings will have higher entry requirements. The normal requirement for a PhD studentship in the UK is a 2(i) degree or a 2(ii) plus an appropriate Masters degree. I would recommend searching for courses you are interested in and contacting the university directly to see if they would accept you based on your grade. You can find the university contact details on FindAPhD.com.

Sorry to hear about the difficulties you've been having! Unfortunately, there aren't many ways to deal with this other than to have a chat with your supervisor and, diplomatically explain that you would like to take a more leading role in planning your topic and research. Let him know that not deciding on a definite topic is counter-productive for both of you and try to find a compromise between what he thinks you should choose and the direction you want to take.
