PhD and lack of social life

Thanks Lughna. That site looks very interesting indeed.

PHD finally

Same here, very well done.

If it helps, as soon as I passed over the bound copies to admin a member of the university said 'thank you, Dr Delta' but I've been told I can officially use the title once senate have agreed everything.

From a BSc to a PhD?

To be honest, regardless of your overall grade at undergraduate level you'll most likely need to do a masters before gaining a funded place on a PhD. If you are prepared to fund yourself that might be a different matter.

DrJeckyll, I would be very like you and generally prefer my own company to that of others. I certainly don't like socialising with colleagues as I feel much more comfortable keeping my professional and personal life separate. However, I've come to realise it's not good to totally isolate yourself as life can be very tough at times and it's good to have people to support you.

Joanna,

I could have written your post myself and so you're not alone. Sparkles has given some great advice as people will not come to us we have to go to where they are. My problem partly arose from moving around for work, from being unemployed and so not able to socialise and people getting married etc. We should just view it as a time to move forward and embrace change. The kind people on here gave me some wonderful advice and I'll see if I can locate the thread.

Like you I find the weekends, mainly Saturdays, the hardest.

Contact Journal Editors

Ady, you're fantastic, thanks a lot.:-)

Contact Journal Editors

Is there any way of getting access to all the journal editors within a field, rather than trying to track and sift individual journals and access contact details on the internet which is very time consuming?

Many thanks.

Quote From lindalou83:

Agreed, a change is as good as a rest, it has been quite amusing to watch yours change! I'm quite enjoying the mining-santa-esque vibe you've got going on at the moment :p

That wardrobe change reflected the sharp down turn in temperature (it's a fur coat you see!) and the mining gear is needed as I had to head out in search of coal for the fire...

Please someone say something..anything to help me
D

Keep going Heidi, you've 1,500 more words than a week ago and you can build upon that.

Thanks Holly, I thought that was the case.

Appearances can be very deceptive Lindalou83!!! No, I was responding to Ian as I'm happy to use the icons here and as you can see when boredom kicks in I go to my wardrobe because a change is as good as a rest...

Well, I hope you enjoy your studies.

I haven't been shortlisted by the University of South Australia either so that's two rejections from Australia, as on checking with the other university they also definitely rejected my initial application.
