Invited for a PhD interview today - but it's scheduled for tomorrow?
I think it's a cock-up, and that even when you queried your 'identity' they still didn't cop on. It sounds as if it was intended for someone who a) had been warned to expect the possibility of a short-notice change of plan, and b) who lived far more locally in order to accomodate it.
If that's not, however, the case, you may wish to judge the quality of the post-grad institution by the efficiency of their post-grad office!

completely lost interest/motivation for my PhD
Hi, I have also faced such challenges throughout my PhD life. But I tried and completed every single phase of my academics and now I am into a successful carrier. I still have records of all my books safely kept in a public self storage in London ( http://www.migsonstorage.com/tips.php ) . These are the memories that keep me going. The literature could have been reviewed as part of a chapter rather than as a distinct section. Not uncommon in the humanities certainly.
