Hi Bulbs, sorry to hear you are so stressed, but I'm sure you will get your work done and things will level off for you soon.

Yesterday I finished the second draft of my chapter outlines, and wrote the contextual chapter outline, I've decided to just go ahead with it as previously planned and then speak to my sup about it when it's finished. I've also decided that there is a shortage of already published info on that chapter's subject, so I need to talk to sup about that too. I've made the decision to try and just push work out more quickly so I can have more discussions with sup and move things on that way. I need to be less perfectionist and just get it written out and sent to the sup.

So tonight, while watching X factor and other dubious items of television, I will:

1. Compile my references for my thesis outline.
2. Make sure all necessary ctations are in place.

so that tomorrow I can:

1. Print out the second draft of the thesis outline at work.
2. Red pen the second draft when I get home.

Good luck Bulbs!

Yeah, I mean Boyzone Wally, give us a bit of credit!

The best terrible film I've ever seen is Stayin' Alive, the sequel to Saturday Night Fever with John Travolta: cheesiest of cheese ever, plus legwarmers, starbursts and men in tights. It was a great way to wind down after writing my last paper. Must get some work done now...

help! I feel isolated from my department...

THERE HAS BEEN A MIRACLE! Not only am I going to see what looks to be a very economically viable, and very nice room to rent near the uni I teach at on Monday, but I've got another teaching job in that town too!! HURRAH! It's marking this term: 66 essays; and makring plus teaching next term. It means I'll get 23 hours worth of pay in my bank account soon, sooon, sooooooooooon. That's so much better than waitressing, and I'm sure I'd get sacked pronto as a waitress; I'm crap at it.

Oh Leanne, thank you, it's nice to know I'm not alone, I've given you a star.

Dear all,

I have to do some writing today because I'm really behind. I'm meeting a friend 1/2 an hour away at 5pm - so I'll give myself until 4pm to work.

After I've put on some warmer clothes I will:

1. Re-draft my three case study chapter outlines.
2. Read for a contextual chapter outline I need more info for.

Number 1 is essential, I can work on 2 tomorrow and Monday.

There wil be some lunch in the middle of this.

I'm off to put on a sweater and some big fluffy socks, and then get started.

Ok I've got another one. When I was a very young lady of about 21, my friend and I went on holiday to a farmhouse in France with some older friends in their 30s and early 40s, and one of their husbands - who I'll call George here. I knew France pretty well, but my fellow holidayers didn't; inspite my superior knowledge the firend's husband insisted he knew better than me about everything, from road directions to wine and food, despite the fact that he'd never been to France in his life and took no interest in the place. This lead to more than a few arguments and considerable tension, and my friend and I (the one the same age as me) began to really hate him, and either avoided him, or had the inevitable arguments: George had started to look pretty red faced, and stressed out. A few days after we got to Blighty, George had a stress related heart attack and died!!! We killed him! Yes, we killed our friend's husband. That still kind of makes me laugh. At the time my friend and I felt horrendous, although we did also see the funny side.

I 've been feeling guilty for laughing at the hamster story; I have done since being on the train this morning. I identify with the male hamster, I think that's why I found it so funny: there was a lot of recognition, and it made me feel better to know that hamsters get broken hearts too - oh dear, how could I be so callous? Cobweb, you've passed on your guilt to me.

Or maybe I just have a very dark sense of humour, yeah, that'll be it, people have said that to me before. I'm nice really, honest.

That's so funny! :-)

I have something too: when I was renting a room in London, my friend who works at a costume store, sneaked out a tuxedo for my live in landlord to borrow free of charge. He should have returned it after a week, or my friend would get in trouble, but he was lazy about it and just kept letting it drift. When the week nearly up I pressured him, but to no avail. I knew my friend would get into trouble, so I insisted he buy her a present to compensate, but being clueless he asked me to choose the gift. I picked out a hanging photograph frame which I thought would appeal to her and eventually, after much pressure, he took the suit together with the gift I'd chosen round to her house.

When I next saw my friend she was livid with my landlord about the suit, and to top it all he'd insulted her with this terrible, tacky photo frame thing. She asked me in one of those sharp, angry tones 'and did you see the state of the gift he bought me? Oh my god!'. Hmmm, I said nothing, but the whole thing still makes me laugh.

YeaaahhhhhY!Thanks Wali! I'm a three starer. Now all I need to do is finish uploading my collection of Vogue magazines onto ebay, and then maybe do some PhD work.

PGCert and PhD... together
Avatar for Eska

Hi Jinkim65, I'm not taking a PGCert, but I do know someone who did take one a long side their PhD and she seemed to think it put about a year on the process. I've taken a teaching qualification in the past and it's very demanding, as is a PhD.

Yeah, can we have some skinny jeans and shoulder paddy type dresses and jackets. Also, those frilly dresses make us look like jelly fish, so can we have something more flattering in the girly options please?

You can go back to old threads you created in the past though. Yeah, this whole no helpful user button is scandalous, but Wal, does that mean you have never given anyone a vote as a helpful user?

I'm trying to sell the contents of my flat on ebay this afternoon, so am too busy to be truly outraged, but I may be later, if it doesn't get sorted out.

Walminski, I would also like to point out to you that my comments on this thread have been, undeniably, and invaluably, helpful to you; I could even have saved your entire self esteeme and therefore your ability to complete your PhD.
