I agree with djgoldma. Having worked in industry, I know for a fact that there is only so far you can go without a PhD (unless you are VERY lucky). If you can live with the fact that your colleagues with PhDs, yet maybe not as good as you, will advance quicker, then forget the PhD.

The only reason I'm doing a PhD is to get a good job in industry and its not a secret i.e my supervisors all know this.

Verdy, the place I'm living in is owned by my parents. Its one of those nice city appartment type things. I actually have my own place which bought when I was 24, I had been working for 2 years and because I lived at home, I saved up a lot of money and was able to put down a reasonable deposit. However at the time I was doing my masters so my parents are on the mortgage with me. The place is currently empty though and costing me a lot of money for mortgage payments.

I don't eat it often, I don't keep things like peanut butter otherwise I would eat it all in a week. As for jars of nutella, well that wouldnt last an hour...

I found out that marmite goes a bit lumpy and crusty when you toast it....yum. Its almost as good as toasted cheese and peanut butter yum yum

I realised I spend a fortune on bills, its crazy, especially as I live alone.

I don't pay rent but do contribute towards two mortgages, good thing my parents give me lots of dosh otherwise I would starve.

I don't think it matters as some academics can be VERY scruffy!

However if you are trying to make contacts, I think its quite important to look somewhat presentable.

JSatre, you haven't even answered the OP question, who just wanted to know if PhDs etc are considered just as good as the undergrad degrees.

It seems like you are using this forum to vent your anger out on your university which could get you into trouble.

If I were you, I would seriously consider getting admin to remove all your posts bad mouthing your university, it makes you look VERY unprofessional.
