How many times are you planning on getting married Mia? lol

I love She's All That, I have a thing for Freddie Prinze Jnr.

Jen, it's one of those teenage movies. Very cheesy but VERY entertaining.

Also, 10 things I hate about you, I have a thing for Heath Ledger, a reason why I also enjoyed A knight's Tale.

I think I should stop now.

Fave books (non-fiction and fiction)

Just wondering, do people generally stick to one genre or do they like different types of books?

Personally, I read lit fiction (booker prize winners etc), sci fi, Harry Potter, women's fiction (for some light relief) and a big fave is books based in foreign countries or historical or both (fiction).

I would come to your cafe DJ, sounds great!

I dont agree with you suadmohammed, wanting to go into academia is not the only reason people go for PhDs. Personally I see it as a stepping stone for getting a good position within industry as well as not being passed over for promotion.

So you are getting the coveted PhD... but what next? Where do you go from here?

What2Do - I was also brought up in a traditional (generally) asian family and hope to be a stay at home mum when I eventually have kids. I guess thats a sacrifice I will make just for the sake of maternal instincts.

Before then, I hope to work in industry, which I miss at the moment :(

I just thought of a really good book for people who are currently feeling down about their PhD and life in general:

The fifth mountain by Paulo Coelho

Its a really inspiring book and makes you look at things in a different perspective.

Well puppy, if the deadline is tomorrow maybe you still have a chance! Will it be easy for you to get references etc by then?

If you don't make it, well keep trying to find a PhD where there is funding. You shouldn't get "shamed" because you didn't know about the deadlines.

Goodluck
