Both universities are considered high ranking. It's just a case of being careful on where to live and where you go wonder about.

Otto, of course you are allowed to have an opinion but I don't really see what your opinion is based on and it was crap (thats my opinion on your opinion) and you had no right to basically tell PinkNeuron that the way she brings up her children is crap when you dont know her or her children.

Do you know anyone who was homeschooled? Do you know anyone personally who homeschools? I've actually looked it up in the past as I was quite intrigued, wondering about the children interaction. It happens that parents that homeschool actually set up groups (quite big ones) where they meet, their children meet etc. I know of at least one person who was homeschooled and is happily doing a phd now at a "proper" university.

I do a bit of A-level tutoring in the evenings (will stop after the exams for this year) it pays well and is relatively easy to get hold of, just do a search online for agencies, there are a few big ones which will help you start off.

Otto - re home schooling, to be frank it's none of your business really. The week I started secondary school aged 11 in a school next to my house, I got a racist comment. The following week I started at my new public school (I even had to wear a hat ). The point is, my parents could afford it and they cared enough to do something about my education, just like pinkneuron does.

You can't go wrong with a toshiba, I'm on my second one.

The first one lasted years and I even dropped it and stomped on it and it was still perfect. Had to upgrade unfortunately otherwise would still be using it today. The one I have now is a few years old but a £1600 one so still going strong.

Mine is EPSRC CASE funded.

It's pretty much the same as any "normal" PhD except I have input from an industrial supervisor and I get to go and visit there whenever I want to collect data. My industrial supervisor does want me to implement some of my work for use at the company though (in my final year).
