I did an PGCert Project and I got pass with minor corrections on my Viva. Seminars will be a nightmare to get to at the local uni, I kept going to them when unemployed. Still keep going to the Scottish Neuroscience Meeting. Networking on twitter as best I can, can be hard to if not in academia already.

This job would be working in a herbal shop with me looking at jobs in neurochemistry!!

Hi

I have got an interview on Friday to working in a shop and I still want to do a PhD, will it be pooh poohed on working in a shop or am I just going straight into the PhD?

P.S. Still waiting to hear from St Andrews.

Shall I quit my PhD before I start?

If you ask me, it's better to get a PhD and not need it, then not get one and find out you need it when it's too late.

I agree here. It is better to get the PhD, who knows you may connect with people at conferences. Seems to be the way of things now.

How did you fail?

Bewildered is right. I did a PGCert as I couldn't progress and it is tough going with the MSc with distance learning and sometimes that can be an issue. I got my MSc with the OU and Liverpool University mentioned that I didn't do labs even though my PGCert is via a red brick uni.

Just my 2 pennies.

It is the MPharm to be a pharmacist. I wanted to be a pharmacist since I was at school. So this is it now. Do I go for a PhD or now I have been told I can get onto an MPharm (kinda like a grad being on a medicine degree.) It would be going back to what I wanted to be originally!

I am considering to apply to A PhD at Edinburgh University about allosteric proteins for drugs and I am also considering doing an MPharm next year. What should I do? apply for the PhD and if that falls through get the MPharm at RGU? I phoned their admissions for pharmacy and I can get in!

Do you have a specialisation in the accounts or do you just want to do plain ones? I know this is a response you have likely already heard but why don't you try the academic schools you wish to go to? Ask the administrations secretary or something to find out.

More rejections for me. Developmental chemists and working for the food standards agency and got rejection for Manchester PhD. Been almost a month for the Durham PhD and heard nothing back from them.
