believe me - when you're meditating it's a million times worse coz you can't help but think - what external force is that - God, ghosts etc. lol. and by the time your brain switches on, you are really really scared.

hey... i felt it. first felt a sensation in my feet like something was coming towards them from the side. i was sitting in a chair meditating with my eyes closed. then the shaking, the noise in the building. definitely an encounter of the bad type. my poor brain trying to make sense of what was happening and what it was gonna do to preserve me. lol. was definitely shaken.

poor thing. i contemplated putting back my telly in its box. but haven't mastered the strength to do that yet. i guess i would also need to get off the net. am trying to use strength of mind for now. am sure you'll do fine Chris. you work really hard.

today was a good day. i worked from home. read an article first (11.30am - 1.30pm)and then worked on my thesis from 4.30pm - 6.30 pm and then 21.00 pm to 23.00pm. today is a great improvement from last Friday's 1.5 hours. I did six hours! am so proud of myself - though i really feel low right now following the recent break up. anyway... am happy with what i achieved today. time to call it a day and watch a movie.

target - submit work to supervisor on Friday. ( first submission this year )

i agree with olivia's last post. i prefer to be with a man of strong character. either we divorce so that he can go elsewhere, or he stays. he can't stay and cheat at the same time. can't have his cake and eat it. he has to make up his mind what he wants. (am using 'he' cause am female and hetero.) this also applies to women.

infidelity is one ground i can't go back on. once some lines are crossed, there is no point of return. esp., that one. in other words, it will never be the same again. if they could be unfaithful then, they will certainly be unfaithful in the future - and even then, it means they had no love, honor and respect for you and they never will. that's the bitter truth.

olivia - i think a PhD is just as hard as a marriage. you'll soon discover that. one's committment to it matters more than love or passion for it.

i actually read my last post again and it sounds so defensive. i actually mean it - thanks!! i was feeling bad earlier for not doing more hours, but decided to go at my own pace.

am actually not working this weekend. am going shopping, then i'll start again on Monday. i needed to start working to take my mind off things, and to rediscover the joy of doing my research. thanks shani for your concern. have a great weekend.

i haven't read other replies so excuse me if i repeat what may have been said: i would say, go at your own pace. don't let naysayers pressurise you. also make sure you're in control of the phd and not the other way round. you're doing your best and thats all that matters. you cannot do more. only do what is humanly possible. you have to draw a line, or you'll be depressed by people's expectations. a lot of my coleagues have hign blood pressure because of supervisor related stress - do not let people get to you. love yourself enough to protect yourself when you're endangered.

ofcourse, you'll be sad to hear what the sup had to say, its only human. but don't dwell on it. do what you can.

hey, today (21/02/08) i managed three hours of work. attended a lecture and collected relevant lit. was too busy running errands to do more. am happy tho. will read em all tomorrow.

i may have to do an alnighter one of these days to incorporate literature and submit revised chapter next week.
