don't worry bazaab. i have wondered whether I have the ability to do a PhD a few times in the last couple of days. my problem tho is different - too many words - am downsizing them at the mo and it's due tomorrow. yea - academic writing - am not so bad at that. i think what is confusing me is attempting to integrate my previous work into one chapter - a lit rev. am secretly blaming my supervisors for this, and yea, i agree that it is only after you have written your report that you begin to have a clue about what your thesis is about. don give up when you feel lost - hang in there and some clarity will soon come. well done Dan B!

first term was fun, second term was hell...i might take it again, but am not agreeing to teach any strange subjects again! last term i had to learn a module and then teach it. heck no!!!

did anyone teach this academic year? how did you all get on with your teaching and research? any exciting /nightmare experiences? lessons learnt? Would you do it again? Why/Why not?

what did they ask you and what were they looking for. i have one today.......any ideas on dos and don'ts?

i managed about 4000 yesterday, before feeling really confused!!! hoping to sort it all out today.

thanks hillyg. DJ - some students on my course all don't have lit revs. I think it depends on a supervisor. some prefer you do them in the end.

am so sorry to hear that you are going /have been through tough times recently - driven2insanity and 404. all i can say is i will remember you in my prayers.

Driven2insanity - (having no experience of losing a really close family member) I would suggest that you listen to yourself. If you feel ready to handle the viva, go for it. If you don't, give yourself time to grieve and postpone it, it will come up later as 404 said.
