oh no sorry to hear about the files being messed up, i really hope you get it sorted out.

yeh i feel much better now, by writing a proper hand written letter and i posted it today. so now i just have to wait and see what they say. the actual graduate tutor in charge of me, is back at work on monday and will be confounded with multiple emails from me.. i hope he doesnt get angry realising i still haven't written my thesis.

yah i think working in short burts is a good idea. i think i tend to do that aswell. but then don't know what to do during my 5-10min break. maybe i will start leaving the study room and going for a little walk in the garden or something... i will try that tommorow

lol funny, i was just telling a fellow phd friend of mine. that it feels like i am married to my phd, but rather begrudigly, i can't wait to divorce it!!

question for you folks who are writing up at the moment.

how often do you back up and what do you use to backup?

external hardrive? dvds? online storage??

i use external hardrive and dvds.

and a memory card for daily backups.

and planning on doing weekly backups onto dvd. and then giving a copy of my backups of the dvds to my brother to keep at his house.

and just updated my antivirus software aswell. today is all about backing up...

hurrah for system restore. i went back several days.

okay people back up your stuff. even if it takes a day away from writing, it's worth it. i am now going to back up everything onto dvds. and not putting it off anymore.

Great, just when i thought things couldn't get any worse.

my main desktop pc decides, that it no longer wants to connect to the internet.

everytime i try to connect it, it would say computer has an invalid IP address.

so i then tried to do system restore, it was working fine, and i wasn't even working on my computer, it just stopped working all of a sudden.

now i am doing my 2nd system restore, and now it's just looks like it's frozen on "please wait" ..

luckily i have a laptop, which is connecting fine to the internet. and luckily all my phd work and thesis stuff is on an external harddrive.

i don't know what to do though about my desk top pc :( i have alot of other stuff on it though, like a dvd burner etc, which i do need. and i need an internet connection, for my endnote.

i know worst case scenario, i could write my thesis on my laptop. :(

i am going to write an official letter to the graduate tutor, because she's not answering my emails and officially apply for the examination forms, because its stressing me out, that i haven't got them yet. and that way i will know exactly where i stand come sept 1st.

sounds like a good idea about the swimming thing. i too work late at night and then wake up late.. but that's me, i'm a night owl. there was this study that showed that it's genetics about whether you're in an early riser or a night owl.

i admit my writing is not technically brilliant or posh or scientific but all the content was there. and how can he expect to be given a free ride on a paper and not expect to do any work. i have definately decided i will not stay with them and once i had in my thesis and whether i pass or fail. i just want to get as far away as possible and find something i really do enjoy. its a shame though. because i really do enjoy learning about biology. and for awhile i was tempted to stay with them for abit and do a project, but not after this, noway.
