btw when I read the thread topic I was thinking the same thing as aliby! Imagined some sort of horrendous accident with a turkey baster during a tour of the lab, or a set-to with the ladies toilet seat....

Well as mentioned on the cuba thread, I am a big fan of cocktails, but at the ripe old age of 31 I have become a spirits snob.
A friend took me to Mojo's in Leeds a few weeks back ( aledgely Chris Moyles favourite bar, so I should have known it would be amiss...) and I was served up the worst mojito I have ever tasted - two mouthful and I couldn't drink it, the rum was so awful - had to get the bar to swap it for a bottle of corona.) Plus this sounds abit ironic considering essentially I AM a student, but I hate studenty places.
Despite my east-end roots I am an uptown girl these days & like a ponceY-bar / resturant.
I used to go to the Medicine bar in Shoreditch years ago when I lived around there - remember a cracking night with Norman Jay. Is the one in Brum, owned by the same folk?
As for food - if someone else is paying I really like swish pan-asian like Yoatcha, Hakisan or Roka in London + i couldn't afford a glass of water in any of those places on my teaching salary!

please advise me where this good night life is in Brum? I have the misfortunte to have to go up from time to time as my partners family live in soliholl & I have always found it to be really provincial & behind the times. Esp resturants & bars.

Christmas food, what are your ultimate taste sensations
P

We know DJW is partial to a sprout & Sylvester digs parsnips, but what else?
Personally I can't stand turkey - too dry & bland and thus, I will be cooking pheasant this year. I also love mashed squash.
Also have decided this year after several experiments with bought sachets vs my own spices, that I do not like Mullied wine any more ( too like cough meds), which is strange as I used to guzzle the stuff from Dec1 onwards. I look forward to Baileys which I never drink at any other time of year & buying a big tin of chocolate bixs on the premise they're for Xmas day / guests but opening them 2 weeks early and scoffing over a few short days.

Random Nose Bleeds: what might be a cause?!
P

Cool there you go -I hope my comment didn't cause any undue panic.
I didn't want to be an alarmist but - it's just I have a family member who was quite poorly and one of the intial symptoms of his condition was nose bleeds, but as ULUG (artist formally known as mister G?) says not to worry unless it's coming out of both holes (?!)

If only the PgF team could do mulled wine & twiglets ones....

Random Nose Bleeds: what might be a cause?!

Bobby go to the doctor - promise. It is probably absolutely nothing, but nose bleeds can be an indication / early warning of some more serious medical conditions.
I do not want to panic you or any one else - but just go & have a check up.

I have endnote licensed to the university on my PC in my uni office, but really want a copy for my Mac (have the latest OSX) at home on which I do most of my writing up. The uni won't lend me a copy or pay for a license as they say technically it's personal use.
I've been quoted £85 ;a discount of £30 off the RRP - does any one know where I can get it cheaper?

Bobby -tell me about Havanna.
