Which uni to choose???
R

Hi Marosh, this is a difficult question for forum members to answer helpfully, as it's unlikely anyone will have been to both institutions! In this situation, I always advise people to visit both departments if possible, and get a feel for the place.

Good luck in your choice.

I don't know the answer to this one - has anyone been in this situation?

You might need to find an engineering masters course and make enquiries about admission: http://www.findamasters.com/search/courses.aspx?DID=5

I hope you find some answers!

Hi Margarete,

Hopefully someone will be able to offer you some advice, but I would suggest finding some possible PhDs and sending enquiries regarding the option of distance learning:

Hi Jtyler, sorry to hear of your troubles, as lindalou83 says, I think you may have to approach another university and explain your situation as simply as possible - I'm not sure anyone here will know the answer.

Good luck!

PhD in corrosion / oxidation (materials engineering)

Hi Memo,

I can't help with regards to recommending a supervisor, but I would suggest looking on FindAPhD.com for possible funded projects:

http://www.findaphd.com/search/phd.aspx?DID=7&SAID=407

There are a lot in the area of material engineering, and although they won't all be suitable for you, it seems like you may be able to find a funded opportunity rather than having to self fund.

Good luck in your search!

Would you continue a failing Masters?

Perhaps the decision would vary depending on how far through the masters you are - it would be a shame to quit at a late stage I think.

Hopefully someone in the know will give their opinion.
