Thanks Dunni73 (I had loads of help from my in-laws and few close friends especially when I was writing), There is exactly 2.5months between sub & v day. I think I'm lucky as I've heard people waiting a lot longer. Hopefully I can eat x'mas dinner without any stresses.

@ Palafour, wish you the best for the coming viva. It was a huge relief to actually to see someone write that they have found mistakes after submission. I knew this but thought it was only mine (no sense of reality at all) and I submitted it too quickly, now I realise that majority of theses are not 100% perfect at submission.
@dunni73, keep the hunger going...as I'm feeling a bit lazy and doing all other things except writing the summaries which I need to get done!
@barnaby, I'm in same boat, 2 small kids under 3 and a hubby who is always busy at work, he didn't help in write-up, so its now or never for him to help me. Only good thing is that I don't work. but I'm a full time baby-sitter, housekeeper and a cook ;-).

Good luck to us..I hope I can say I have done some proper work by the end of this week. Dec is not far..hmmm

@ Barnaby, how is the prep going? I have started to read the thesis and found few mistakes, missing brackets etc. Can't imagine how I missed them, but I guess its pretty hard to even miss one or two typos. Going to make summaries of each chapter, more like bullet points.

@ Kikuka, you can rest for a while I guess. I spent abt two weeks not even looking at my work. That was a good break to have a different perspective on the thesis

Pineapple..have some faith..u r qualified and maybe once you get the final big one things would turn up (up) :-) maybe I sound too positive but we need to keep our smiles for the interviews right?

I'm in a similar place, similar field but not with those qualifications or work experience (10 yrs since I started my uni education & a family along the way). So, I think probably we should just concentrate on the viva and perhaps the job applications as well.

Time answers lot of questions. sometime we have to suffer to gain the good (oops..this sounds bad,anyway..)

I'm doing the last bit of editing before I submit in three weeks. I feel I should delete parts and include more details etc. But I just feel totally sick, can't even eat properly. Reading the thesis is almost unbearable now. How would you handle these last days, can't imagine what I would do when the viva date gets fixed. :$

Wish you an 'all clear' answer for the test.

However, at times like these the only resolve is to leave it and concentrate on work that does not require that much effort such as making a table of contents, editing your reference list, updating endnote, finding those long lost articles. Life moves on and things happen, they do not stop because you are doing a PhD, although it just gets extremely stressful at times.

Meditation is a good way to relax your mind.

From what I know, your H1 is the null hypo. Your H1 should be H0 and H2 should be H1. So if there is no diff between the two groups then you confirm the null hypo, which should be H0. What stat books do you use. I recommend Andy field's 'bible', it sorts out lot of stat problems without sweats.;-)

I haven't been a regular like I used to but I'm back and doing some editing. I submit within 3 weeks and really getting bored reading this, although I like to re-read some of the chapters.
Aim to finish proof reading at least two chapters by tomorrow. let's see how it goes, (yawn coming hard and fast.. need music to keep me up)
BTW, I just saw a small mouse in my living room where I was working, now I will run to the bedroom & lock the door :-o need to do something about this tomorrow.

So sorry hear this news. I haven' been a regular in this thread but read the forum when I can. I have struggled with a similar situation abt a year ago as ill health and death all occurred in my family. Supervisors were understanding of the situation and I did get few months suspension just to recover from this.
So, as the first thing, let your supervisors know the situation, they are experienced in handling these types of things. Inform your department or who ever is responsible, these are very admin things that you might not want to do, but do this now so when you can come back to work, things would not be a nightmare.
Keep hope & faith, you will get through this.
