EU students and NERC/BBSRC, additional funding?
S

I agree, the funding is a privilege, not a right. EU students can't just EXPECT to come to the UK and take the tax payers money.

So the message to you overseas students wanting funding- if you get it, be very grateful, if you don't, then don't complain, either pay it yourself or stay the hell out of our country

What would you think?
S

PhD's are quite competitive, so you are probably just being pipped to the post by a very good applicant. I'm sure that some projects get so many applicants that its almost a draw out of the hat as there are so many good applicants.

Just keep trying, I'm sure you will get there

maybe this just isnt right for me.

Its all well for you to plan for PhD degrees, but I think you should leave it until you are nearly half way through your third year, perhaps later. Your plans can change in that time, I know mine did.

Just enjoy your time as undergrads and worry about 'what to do after' nearer the time you finish.

US PhD-support tax free?

well it could have been per semester, or per academic year. So don't be a dick about it

Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and I don't like it

US PhD-support tax free?

Very true, I'm not on one of those high paid studentships though.

no-idea, the average studentship is probably little over £12k in UK
