Do you believe in a 'God'?
W

Quote From Kubaff:

Yes I do believe in God. Look around yourself, do you honestly think everything you see in nature came from some random reactions or some other bollocks like Big Bang Theory? I dont think so, it appears to me everything exists by intelligent design who I believe is God. I also dont think the assumption that PhD students are more intelligent than all other people is misplaced. I know a good number of smart people (than me) who are not PhDers or even interested in post graduate studies. Read Big Bang Theory Exploded by the Standish Brothers. I cant remember their names

Mercifully, when you die you'll cease to exist and you'll never be disappointed that there is no God - in my very modest and feeble opinion. And if there is a God (no chance), I want a fxxkin word with him! He's a backseat, lazy freeloader who needs to pull his finger out and start mediating. Having said that, I would feel sorry for him. People from time immemorial have been blowing themselves up and fighting like school children over him, and it's all his fault. He must feel terrible! No offence intended to religious people. :-)

Quote From Lara:

I believe in God. infact the more i study biology, the stronger is my belief. the complexity of for example just the human body down to the genes, is just incredible. but everyones faith is personal to their own. if someone does not believe in God, each to their own. Sometimes i think its incredible the whole universe, how big it is, and that i exist, and if i exist then its not impossible to believe that God exists aswell.

Precisely because with chance, anything is possible. If it can happen, in a world of infinite possibilities, it will. It's taken millions of years to get where we are today, and chance...lots of it.

Here here!  The more I study biology and medical science, the more I think that complex processes cannot simply be put down to coincidence. The fact that we don't fully understand the human body is, on its own,  an indication that there must be a spiritual input. It's just amazing, I mean consider the Krebs cycle for example! How can that have come about by chance?

Interim Assessment

Hiya Sleepyhead. My research is within the discipline of health care. I suppose you could say that the panel were expert in the techniques I am trying to use for my research. You can definitely say that they are expert knit pickers! :p What's your discipline?

Interim Assessment

It lasted for 3 hours and was very mentally draining. I just feel like I've given birth and am exhausted. I scraped through though(up). So many critical questions - I've never felt so under siege. I can only begin to imagine what the viva must be like... Now I'm just going to rest and try and assimilate what I've been told.

Viva! Las Vegas.

Aloha, you goer! Well done you. Well doc, I feel another rhyme coming on...mmm...let me think....

Aloha is now a doctor,
I reckon she'll soon be rich and own a helicopter,
She'll take her students for a ride,
and scare to death any that dare skive,
Now I know this may all seem kinda random,
but I'm so pleased and happy, so I'm comin' in at a tandem.

Well done once again - and fare thee well traveller!

Interim Assessment

Been away from this forum for quite some time. Nice to see it's still so very active and helpful. Got my first interim assessment tomorrow - just finished preparing for it now. Probably under-prepared, but totally demotivated at the moment anyway :-( Will let you know what they ask and how it goes when it's over tomorrow, if anyone is interested. I think the outcome is: continue, resit or get outa my uni you lazy thicko (terminate candidature).

Hello Aloha, I haven't really been anywhere at all - just really busy with life and its big bag of tricks. Congrats on getting that thesis in and good luck with that viva of yours. If you thesis is as good as your rhyming abilities, you have nothing to worry about.

Her thesis finished, Aloha's worry has diminished,

now she awaits her viva, thinking it'll be as scary as a tiger,

but I'm willing to bet my mother's cat, the mangy, aids-ridden little prat,

she'll pass with flying colours, to the admiration of many others.
