I'm afraid I can't let that happen, so get back in your cage!

Good morning, misspacey. Hope you have a productive all-nighter - there'll be fewer distractions anyway. Like me, just keep telling yourself: it'll all be worth-it in the end.

Choo choo! All aboard the nocturnal workers' express! Who'll be joining me tonight as I travel along the route of late night, lonely work?

That wobble cushion looks like a Chinese torture instrument. Unless it's upside down in the picture that is.

Well, it's one of my distraction obsessions at the moment - I'm trying to keep the Off-Topics section topical. I'm sure that, as I trawl through the online papers, when I should be working , I'll come across a story where there have been friendly aliens that have travelled here and had a brew with some earthlings. I'll bet it's first work travelling thousands of light years through time and space.

Sorry to hear that your bike was stolen and your goldfish died - grim I'm in a similar situation to you with my work - chasing my proverbial tail. Well, I'll be working late too for the foreseeable future - so you're not alone

Oooh, whilst wasting time today I happened upon this article in, erm hmm, the great media bastion of wholesome family values and social decorum, The Daily Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-1037471/Apollo-14-astronaut-claims-aliens-HAVE-contact--covered-60-years.html

Yeah, Jouri speaks good sense: just go to a barber's shop if you're male. I pay £8-50 and, thanks to the anonymity of this forum I can write this, get my bloody money's worth: a number two all over. It lasts about 3 months, so I can look stylish and cosmopolitan for a mere 1 pence or so a day.

Sorry Lara, I didn't know you asked me how I got on the last time I posted in this thread - I wasn't being intentionally rude, just ignorant To reply belatedly, I finished it quite early in the morning and, unfortunately, the experience of doing it is a terrifying prelude to the sheer amount of transcribing I'll have to do this coming term.

Well, I'm working late tonight, trying to get something out of an absolutely crap day, and the forum is deathly quiet.... Am I working alone or is there life out there?

ARGH! Laptop nicked and insurers won't pay out

It wouldn't be as profitable as it is if they paid out to everyone that deserved it. No wonder people are so cynical.

Oi, it's all designer stuff bought on my meagre PhD livings. I'm not a Knock Off Nigel or anything!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TbqBPmInjQ

Thanks for the link to the online sweetshop, Aloha. It gave me food for thought and I bought my lady friend a selection of the finest traditional sweets (along with expensive perfume) for her birthday. She may think I'm slightly original now...hehe

It's not really feeling sorry for oneself, more a case of going quietly mad and around and around in circles. Pear drops are okay I suppose, if you're a boring sweet eater with no sense of style or taste.

I wonder how many syllables there are in that paragraph? Sounds like complicated stuff. You could try Googling your request but you might overload and blow up their servers. Good luck with that one.
