Goal 4 done, whoo!!
I think I'm going to toddle off to the shop for a nice bun and then I'll make a start on the next section!
Goal 5 - Stats for group comparison
Goal 6 - Stats for environmental trends
Good going Batfink and Sneaks! We are getting there!
I've done goals 1-3, and hopefully it shouldn't take too long to do the next one, so I can add some more to the list! whoo!
Spent all morning hating everyone and everything, except my friends who I'm missing terribly cos I'm stuck in stupid France. After a power nap and shower I'm feeling a little less like a sociopath though, so I will attempt to finish reading this paper that I started about 3 hours ago. Then onto methods section of chapter 6.
lol bug that's brilliant!! :-)
I've always hated that time of the month, although with the pill I don't actually get anything anymore. Except for the occasional aching, and always get the moods. feels like I'm living in PMS land for the past month here...as for boys PMT, don't even get me started, I think they just feed off us although my boyf is being a total spanner lately....
I'm also suffering from a lack of chocolate and sweeties so I feel your pain ladies (sprout)
Hey MaltildaL congratulations!! That's great news! As Sue said, hopefully this will be what spurs you on to finishing on time, imagine how great it will feel to have submitted, and then just have time to prepare for your new baby! IT can definitely be done though, a girl in my office got pregnant at the start of her final year, and managed to finish lab work, have the baby, go off on maternity leave, write up and submit only about 2 weeks past the intended date!! Insane! But you can totally do it! (up)
The stupid fete has finished here so that's good, I can actually get a proper sleep now which has helped, just can't wait to get finished! I'm starting to plan all sorts of nice things I can do when I'm finished as motivation which is really starting to help! Thanks for the words of sympathy Sue, I hate seeing other people have fun at the moment!! It sounds like a tough situation with your job, maybe you boss will be ok with you applying elsewhere though, if you are doing your doctorate I'm sure they know you are going to want to apply for specific jobs...good luck with it!!
Hey Sneaks, what a crappy situation, poor u :-(
I'd agree with the others, if you are planning to submit your papers as is, with a thesis by publication, then you need to get the first 2 submitted to a journal asap and you can write the 3rd publication like your sup wants. However, if you think they'll never be submitted in time to go in your thesis as direct papers instead of chapters, then forget about the 3rd publication, and get started on your chapters. The most important thing is getting your thesis finished, you can always modify your chapters into publications when you are finished. Especially as your sup is now uncontactable until late September, you're submitting in October, what is that?! There is no way she should be uncontactable for that length of time to a pre-submission student! I'd say go with your gut instinct, it's about how you feel by this stage, it's your thesis don't forget.

Waaa!!
Goals 1-5 DONE! A big fat DONE, right there!
Chapters are emailed away, and I've even got a meeting sorted with 2 of my sups, waiting to hear about the 3rd. Now for some grub then starting Chapter 6.
aww I don't, I'm obviously unloved... ;-)
alright I'm dragging today so I'm on with my goals: finish revisions for chapter 1 and 2, get started on chapter 6.
Chapter 1 is done, just needs proof reading before I send it. Chapter 2 needs a section rewritten which I'm doing now. The headache and nauseous-ness due to being so very tired isn't helping though. But I'm determined to get them off by this afternoon.
So goal 1 - finish 1st part of new section.
Goal 2 - finish 2nd part.
Goal 3 - finish 3rd part
Goal 4 - Proof read chapter 2
Goal 5 - proof read chapter 1.
Here goes!
couldn't leave you hanging sneaks, but I'm sorry I don't even know what APA style is! I know it's something to do with psychology, so maybe just go with it just in case?! Sorry I can't be more help!
lol thanks for that DanB! :) makes me feel better when I'm doubting every word I type! :-)
I think it is different for everyone, it totally depends how you are as a person, and how it affects you. My cousin has just got engaged to a guy she's been seeing for about 9/10 months after saying for years that all men were crap and she's cheated on every single one...not this one though, she's like a changed woman! I think he just really gets her though, I think he's the only person she's met who does, so that's just how it was for her. My own boyf drives me crazy but I'd just get bored otherwise I that suits me, he's super careful about stuff like that though and very private so things are a lot slower with us, doesn't make it any less of a love though. If you know in yourself that it's different from anything ever before, then totally enjoy it, don't rush too fast unless you are both on the same page as EV says, and be yourself! I'm so pleased for you! :-x
Well I'd imagine you need to register, being accepted for a presentation doesn't include free attendance. Usually there is a reduced fee for students, and you can apply for the money back from your funding/uni. But if you want to check you should email the organisers, and ask your supervisor do you get reimbursed for it.
I'm currently loving Mendeley Jjdemspey, I've stuck a post on the forum about it somewhere! It's all free and has an online storage facility thing to, and it's the most user friendly I've seen yet :)
Thanks Sue, that actually really helps make me feel better :)
I was just having such a bad day yesterday, one of those days where you are just too tired to fight against the despair of it all and everything gets on top of you! But today is a new day. I'm still feeling like my stuff is crap but whatever, as long as I get it finished then whatever will be will be. I'm sure my sups won't let me submit if I'm writing nonsense so it hopefully won't get fired back at me in the viva. I'm so conscious when I'm quoting papers that my external has written, I'm worried about making some really obvious mistakes that he'll pick up straight away. But we can only do our best eh?
There has been a town festival here for the past few days and every night I've been woken for a few hours by people having parties and drinking outside on the street, but last night was the last night of the party so hopefully it will be better from now on, I'm one of those people who simply doesn't function without at least 7 good hours of sleep!
And don't think about what you might be leaving behind of you get your job Sue, like you said you should apply and see anyway. If you don't get it then there is no issue of leaving, and if you do get it, you can decide how you feel about it at the time. It's always hard to see what you want when you've got several options and you're not sure. I hope your wee dog is feeling a bit better. (mince)
