OK - but didn't you just do 1163? (your first life was a short one if you were back again so soon!)

btw, i'm pretty sure i haven't been a person before; i spend far too much time utterly confused and perplexed...

I was suggesting 1163 for sylvester. I think all my lives were long, can't think of any short ones.

(is it evident that I am really bored with my thesis right now? I had enough of work this weekend)

I

yes, it's evident. aren't we all a bit bored with work when we come on here? it's a tonic (or a gin and tonic, if you prefer)

The Year 1164

Count Henry I of Champagne marries Marie de Champagne.
Uppsala is recognized as the seat of the Swedish metropolitan.
Antipope Paschal III elected by cardinals supporting Frederick Barbarossa.
Olaf II of Norway is canonized as Saint Olaf.

And another Swedish / Baltic one because I'm feeling generous:

In 1164 the Ladoga fortress successfully withstood a siege of a Swedish army of two thousand soldiers. In the same year inhabitants of the Ladoga fortress built the St. George church in the memory of the victory over the Swedes and in honour of the heavenly patron of the city
Archbishop Rainald of Dassel brings relics of the Magi from Milan to Cologne.
Thomas Becket contends with Henry II, leaves England to solicit support from the Pope and the King of France.
The first written record of Tver

Like a history lesson this, god knows what we'll do after 2007. Anyway:

-December 22 - Afraid that Old Cairo would be captured by the Crusaders, its Caliph orders the city set afire. The city burns for 54 days.
-Prince Richard of England becomes duke of Aquitaine. He later becomes King Richard I of England.
-Emperor Takakura ascends to the throne of Japan
-King Valdemar I of Denmark conquers Arkona on the Island of Rügen, -the strongest pagan fortress and temple in Northern Europe.
-The Chinese write the first "movie script" on bamboo. The script is believed to not be inherent with a play, for imaginary events we now call "special effects" are inferred.
-King Sylvester IV on return from putting the fire out in Old Cairo, accidently discovers Belgium and appoints Prince TheCoastman (Duke of Cleethorpes) as Protector.

Good point re 2007 . Has no-one noticed your re-writing of history? (King Sylvester)
