Odd number of chapters ... what a load of tosh! I think a well written/constructed/presented thesis is what will concern the examiners more!

By the way, I will end up with 8 chapters in total (including intro and conc) ... my supervisor also had the same for their PhD, and it didn't appear to do them any harm, especially seen as they are now a very 'big cheese' in their field!!!

That is in my unis handbook recommendations too! I think it is just advisory though - I have 6 and dont see any point in splitting one up or anything to make it 7... weird though that it has even been thought of..

What a load of poo! I think in the general scheme of all things thesis, odd v even chapters comes pretty much bottom

Its quite rubbish but if its in your Uni regulation and your supervisor agrees with it, then you have to do it.
