Jojo's Writing Up Diary - The Race for the First Draft

R

An exotic location? That sounds like just the place to get lots of work done

The stopwatch is a good idea Lara!

S

wow! this is hot stuff. Both jojo and Lara are making this write-up sounds more motivating and exciting. Keep it up guys. We'll be looking up to you.

L

Thanks Rosy and Sheena!
having a writing diary, really does make you focus.

B

Keep it up jojo! I'm going to join in as I also have a September deadline. I think I may join Lara's thread as it seems we may be at a similar stage. 1000 words/3 pages a day is my goal too, and I'm aiming to write about 160 pages before September.
Good luck both of you!

J

2029 words today! that's something. off to watch telly and have a well deserved night's sleep. til tomorrow.. will pick up and improve from here.

J

welcome to writing up botanybod! at least we're 3 now. we're all almost at the same point as i have no perfect words as i still have to go through all the chapters eventually.

Goodluck! remember to have time for yourself so you don't burn out.

re exotic location earlier... i'll let you know in a month or so when i choose the place. am going for real. even though its for a few weeks. has anyone watched love actually? you know that scene where this guy is writing his book along a lake? now that's what am looking for. some peace and quiet.

L

WOW 2000ish words, WELL DONE i am so proud of you!

BB welcome to the club! yes please join my thread, it will be nice to have company ;) and yes we have almost the exact same deadline and chapters to write :)

omg jojo, i love that idea of going to that place to write. whenever i get stressed, i always think of escaping to a place with a nice lake and forest!
hope you get to go! ;)

if i feel i need abit of a chance, i will pop down to the local park hehe. which is only 5min walk from my house. and it has a nice little pond. hehe and lots of greenery. good idea! ;)

B

Well done jojo, that's loads!! Hopefully I'll get to the point when I'm writing that much each day.

I think I'm also going to be going away somewhere nice to write - much like Colin Firth . In a moment of weakness I agreed to go to France for a week with my bf at the end of August. I was planning on being finished by then (or at least have all the drafts finished), but if I'm not its not the end of the world, as I can take my laptop. With no TV or internet it may be the most productive week of all!

J

two hours done today. off for a discussion with co-author of forthcoming publication. its funny how under pressure we can juggle everything.

J

good morning everyone.... .

C

Good moring Jojo (I haven't had lunch yet so yes, it's still morning )

I take it you have a thesis-tastic bank holiday planned too?! I look forward to the days when I don't define a good day by how many words I've written or papers I've read!

J

lol cakegirl!!

am having a very unproductive day today. feeling quite stressed. considering taking the day off.

L

hey girls, i haven't had breakie either, drinking this vile vegetable juice thing. i find that i am more alert when i eat later on in the evening.

i'm using my timer method... tick tock tick tock. feel like i am in an exam. just took a little break. starting the timer again. 30minutes, to read a paper and make notes than my time is up!

maybe we can do it again?

report back at 4pm, with what you have done. then you can have a break, or the day off. the whole you can't have dessert until you eat your veggies. even if it's just 10minutes of work. try it

J

hope the writing is going ok for most of you.

am about to get back to writing after a whole day of procrastinating. am aiming to do about three hours! i would be so proud of myself.

S

go, jojo, go!

and report back when you've done those three hours!
