My tooth hurts! Can't work efficiently...

Its a brighton thing. I forgot to add on my glowing review of the city, it is also an extremely humane place.
The Patron Saint, Sir Norman of Cook would be proud of you Bruno .

brunodentist, thank you so much for this. I will call the number first thing in the morning and I will travel to Brighton if they agree to see me (as I am still suffering from the pain and my appointment feels too far away). I have to admit that I am shocked and pleasantly surprised that the nearest thing to a "solution" comes from a PhD forum. Thanks again.

Hey!

I wore braces for five years and once they were removed started to suffer unbearable pain in the left hand side of my face which would come and go. I kept going to dentists and doctors both NHS and private and they kept going 'you need fillings' and 'you're stressed'. I coped as best as I could for about two years (even doing my 3rd year finals whilst in tears because my face hurt so much: a sharp stinging/burning sensation that would build up until I would cry and yell in pain and then it would stop, and come back a few seconds/minutes/hours or days later) until whilst doing my MA it hurt so much I spent an entire weekend without sleep and had to stay in the dark, not eat or speak because it hurt so much. I staggered into Manchester A & E and was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuralgia (a nerve on the left hand side of my face had undergone trauma whilst wearing braces) and got the meds I needed. So if any of you have chronic tooth pain....don't forget there can be non-dental causes of it! Hope you got the dental help you needed.

Good point, my pal who is a neurologist says she sees loads of patients referred to her for facial pain who have had several teeth removed because the symptoms were wrongly interpreted as being due to dental problems.

You're so right Ann. I have a mouthful of fillings and most of these aren't needed! I also had two molars removed to make way for the brace brackets....but as my doctor said as she wrote out the prescription for the Carbamzepine 'your teeth are so lovely and straight'. So I suppose in a pain/pleasure way it may have been worth it! Well maybe a little. I just feel for those who never manage to get rid of their Trigeminal Neuralgia.

Yes, beautiful pearly whites aren't much help when all your mouth does is grimice in pain instead of smiling!!! I have a friend who is being treated for facial nerve pain at the moment

I hope the pain meds work.

Dear brunodentist. On the same morning I was going to call your Brighton practice (monday), my dentist's receptionist called to tell me they had a cancellation for this week. I've started a root-canal treatment today. I wanted to thank you once again for your offer. I have to admit today is one of the worst days in my life. 1 hour operation felt like 1 month. But I'm glad the whole thing will be over in a few weeks from now.
