Sneaks' accountability thread

T

Hey sneaks, how's it going?

Noticed you've been MIA like me. Hope you're not drowning in non-phd (or actual phd) work?

S

hi Sneaks
how are you this morning?
yesterday I managed to finished some writing and sent to my supervisor. I was so tired I slept almost 12 hours. I also had a very strange very long dream. My mother was driving a go-cart past a cemetary. And people were lying on the ground near the cliffs (near the sea) complaining of headache. I was rushing to help them so I ran into some kind of place and there were lines of people waiting to enter some kind of separate hall. What a dream!!!

Anyway I'm going to wear my new dress!!! After that I will read a paper in the afternoon!
Here I go!!!

May we all have a productive day!!!

Satchi, your dreams could rival mine for weirdness! How utterly strange.
New dresses are always good, perhaps that's what I need to motivate me......hmmm ;-)

Today I reached my target of breaking 10,000 words.
At this point I must confess that it is 10,000 words cut and pasted from articles and essays I'd written previously. I've yet to really write anything fresh on my experiments but I am working on my lit review. I just want to run away and never write my thesis, oh dear.

So much to do, so little time. I have been away far too long with non-PhD work. Today's goals

- read through husband's PhD and find problems for him to sort
- 2 x qual analysis
- definitions of my themes that I found (and change the names a bit)
- take cats to vets for injections

J

Sneaks, I've spent this week on non-PhD stuff, and will only be spending half of today on actual PhD-related stuff... so my goals for today:

- make changes to the infamous Chapter which I though I would never finish, but finally did on new years eve.
- meet with sup
- work on an assignment for my PGCE.

Then pub! :-)

unfortunately I have done no work so far. I have mainly talked to the plumbers in my house about the horrible old plumbing, praying they can get my new boiler on today after 3 weeks with no heating and also very sleepy because a) am exhausted after running about all week stewarding a large event and b) I have warmed up one room in my house with a portable heater and now am warm and sleepy. So there will be no work done today!

S

hi! I didnt do anything today! Was too stressed up over an important letter sent by special delivery--and the recipient said they did not receive it!

But I checked the website to track it --and VOILA! it had been promptly and safely delivered--and someone signed for it!!!
So how could they say they did not receive it!

I was so crazy about this, I couldnt concentrate all day. So now I have just come home--and I'm going to cook something nice, have a nice shower.... and read some papers tonight! :-)

satchi

hmm, don't people sign it electronically now? Maybe you can see who signed it, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't 'Mr. Posty'

Still haven't done any work, well I've emailed a few things and checked my questionnaire responses and had a think. I might go and read a book (story book, not phd - specifically twilight :$ )

I am totally lost with my PhD - no motivation and it doesn't seem like I ever do any work on it! I got up this morning, determined to work on it for the whole day... and I am met with an email from my sup about my non-PhD work which needs to be done today and will take about an hour! grrr. So today I need to get back into the swing of things. I have a deadline end of Jan to write a publication so today....

- non PhD work (1 hour max)
- look through my names of themes and possibly rename
- start writing results section of paper.

(I want the results section done by the end of this week!)

That will give me 1 week to write intro and discussion :-(

ah ha, done my none PhD work in less than 25 mins according to my tomatoe - urgh - hate veg, wish it was called 'my steak' or something!

T

Oh dear sneaks, this doesn't sound like you at all. Are you just drowning in non-phd distractions?

I've been terribly haphazard as well, can't seem to balance all the different research tasks and writing that need doing (not to mention home life nonsense).

Agree about the tomatoes, but then if it was steak or cake I'd just get totally distracted and run to the fridge each time I looked at the timer! Mmmm, steak *drools lightly on lab book* Erm yes, clearly have enough problems regulating my food intake as it is :s

Hope today goes better. I'm planning a looong run of experiments which will be nice to get done, but which will probably deprive me of my planned Yoga class, boo to that.

going ok, I have done 5 tomatoes so not too bad. There just aren't enough hours in the day. Going to to one more, then break for lunch. (turkey)

woo lunch - done 6 my tomatoes :-)

hmm, was doing well until I had a big lunch and a dog walk and then felt really sleepy. Just started to do a lot more work and then stupid save the children man came begging, so I had to tell him I prefer my dog and don't really like children :$

He looked a bit confused, but then tried to convince me to put my hard earned stipend towards the charity - erm no, maybe when I am earning more than I need to survive!

Right today I want to get done

- 5 qual analysis
- write results up for at least 1 theme from my previous analysis

GO!
