have linked afternoon headaches with lack of glasses and now on frantic hunt for ones that went missing. However, they went missing during a house party of my mother in law's so not holding out too much hope :-(
Dear all, today I am happy that my love google led me to this forum, since I don't have courses in the university, I almost forget that I am a PhD student. So happy to find somebody like me, that encouraging me to go on.
So allow me to join you here. Tomorrow, I'm going to read in a book around 30 pages. I have a french course so I am going to study for it 1 hour, and I have a class in the evening.
see you tomorrow, and good luck for all
Ah, Sneaks et al.
I have been a bad student, avoiding this thread in my panic-stricken uselessness. Today I got up with hubby at 5.45 - urgh - in the hope that I could do some work in the wee hours. As it is I'm just tired (we're out of coffee), surfing the net and thinking how much I don't want to go to the lab. I really must get out of this funk, I've been such a slacker recently :-( Accountable I must be, so for this morning...
1) take proplus in lieu of coffee
2) make a v.v.v.rough draft two slides for "that" presentation
3) write an outline for tuesday's presentation (just for variety)
4) once that's done go and do some yoga, the lab can wait until I'm zen
Welcome Emaa! watch us be totally unaccountable haha.
Teek - I think I feel the same, although I've been logging in no work has actually been done :-(
But the posty has brought a welcome gift - glasses! for £12 - they are better than my originals (ok not really but never mind).
I now have no excuses to get on with work - which is a bit rubbish really.
After the thread on note taking I spent last night getting my one note file organised again. Today
The thematic analysis - this has really gone too far.
I also learnt the man who was going to do some work for me (transcribing)isn't anymore so going to have to do it myself - and try and get some done today.
Its a shame - I really love writing, but can't do that until I have the practical bit out of the way :-s
Tea is in hand - off I go....
I've spent most of today doing non-PhD related things. Grrr. All essential though. I figure I may as well carry on this way, and catch up with some admin... So I will:
- go sort out council tax exemption - again
- figure out why I can't access certain journals (this has been bugging me... a lot!)
- plan out what I'm going to do next week
- attempt to sort conference stuff (this has been bugging me as well)
hmm so far I have
- done a little bit of thematic analysis
- replied to many emails
- talked to annoying person who won't stop ringing me about research
- opened all the parcels that have been delivered by posty and hidden them out of reach of a) dog and b) husband
- started some stats analysis on a non-phd project
Before the day is out I need to
- do work which was result of annoying phone conversation
- thematic analysis
- work out how many transcriptions i have to do
- finish stats and write reports for other project.
- check diary as have found have lots of meeting I forgot to write in it :$
Before the day is out I need to
1) do work which was result of annoying phone conversation = Done :-)
2) thematic analysis = Done - all that were transcribed
3) work out how many transcriptions i have to do = 13 :-(
4) finish stats and write reports for other project. = doing after dinner
5) check diary as have found have lots of meeting I forgot to write in it = done :-)
Today
- Stats reports I didn't do yesterday - will take me at least 2 hours
- transcribing 13 interviews (!)
- thematic analysis
tbh I have had an awful morning - got a really nasty person having a go on the phone which has made me feel awful. I have also had about 10 people ask me when I am due to finish grrr - leave me alone! and the reports I'm doing seem to be messed up somehow but I don't know why or how to fix it. It was supposed to be a simple thing to do but is taking ages.
