Hey Chrisrolinski
You're not here by yourself at least - look, there's lots of us online! And being on the other side of the world, I'll be working for the next gazillion hours today, so rest assured that there is at least one other person working, if everyone in the northern half of the world goes to sleep and you're still up.
You'll get there! Sounds like you have a lot on your plate at the moment, with travelling and doing all your other work, and it always gets like this at the end of the year, where we try and get everything done, it's just madness. Keep going! Think of something to look forward to - a bit of a break over Xmas? Visiting friends? And the next little while will go quickly. Chin up!
It's probably not quite late enough to start posting on this thread, but I have a feeling I'll be here half the night so I might as well start posting here. :-( I have got to finish an essay tonight, the most horrid essay I've ever written. It's for a course which is part of the postgrad training scheme ... I'd rather just get on with my PhD! It's on the philosophy of social science and, to be honest, I don't really have a clue what I'm on about. So I'm really struggling with it. And I'm so fed up with it. I'm usually far above the word limit on essays and have to spend ages trying to cut words, but this time I have only just managed to get above the minimum word limit. Aaargh! I'd better get on with it...
Any other (semi-) nocturnal workers out there tonight?
Yep, I'm doing a late tonight, like most of the days over Christmas. I'm actually a hardened veteran of the Nocturnal Workers thread. Never mind catching the Midnight Express, I actually drive it.
Yay, I'm not on my own! All aboard the Midnight Express. Or, considering it's almost Christmas, could it maybe be the Polar Express?
I have added another few dozen rubbish words to my rubbish essay. But at least I'm getting there. Aaargh! I want to go to bed.
Almost time for another tomato and another 25 minutes of mental pain... (Oh, and I'm sure it's time for some chocolate too.)
(Thanks by the way to whoever suggested mytomatoes.com! It's been very useful. (up))
Hi Moonblue and Walminski
You're not alone - as in the other posts, I'm still here on the other side of the world and will be working all day. MB, I feel for you having to write that essay - I was also supposed to do a course like that, but I got my sup to write me a letter and said I already had this knowledge (which I don't think I did), and managed to wriggle my way out of it. Yeh! Doesn't help you tho - but my sympathies, I didn't think a course like that looked like fun at all.
And I do believe it was me who introduced tomatoes to forumites, glad to be of assistance.
Keep going!! I'm determined to finishe rewriting a chapter before next Mon, so have lots to do too. We'll get there!
Thanks Sue! I thought it was you who introduced the tomatoes. They're great. :-)
This course has been quite interesting and maybe even useful, but it made head hurt! And I really could do without having to write this essay... I've just somehow managed to lose some words, I'm now only just above the minimum word limit. :-( I'd better do some more waffling. And eat more chocolate.
Hi guys
Not sure that I can be classified as a worker given my recent lack of productivity, but it is getting nocturnal and I am (vacantly) sitting in front of a computer attempting to work, and of course streaming black books episodes.
I seem to be well and truly in holidays mode, I've just stopped caring even though the deadline draws ever nearer :s

Chocolate waffles sound great, Teek. I suppose it would be the ultimately in procrastination if I drove 12 miles to nearest shop to buy some?
I love Black Books! Much more fun than this nonsense I'm working on. Enjoy watching it and embrace 'holiday mode' - then you'll be able to tackle the PhD with renewed energy afterwards. (tree)
Argh, back to the essay from hell. I've added another 50 or so words during my last tomato-slaying session. And I've reached a new academic low: spotted a book on the table which I hadn't quoted yet, opened it on a random page, found a (surprisingly relevant!) quote which some helpful student had already underlined (always used to annoy me when people do that, but was rather useful this time) and added it to my essay. :$
Next tomato is calling, good luck to you all!
I'm missing my nocturnal working! I sent a near-final draft of my thesis to my supervisor a week ago, and now I feel a bit lost! I still pop in now and again to see how other people are getting on. Good luck to everyone out there tonight.
I do plan on working a little over the next few weeks, finishing off my bibliography, and preparing my appendices. All vital stuff which needs to be done, and might as well be done sooner than later.
Oh I'm with you in spirit! That's the best I can manage for now. Glad you're making good progress. Good luck with the rest of it.
