The One Goal Thread

A

goal for today is get article I have been working on since November finished...hang a minute, was that not yesterday's goal, and the day before's?? :(

S

I hope you're OK Button?!

I am finished with my summary and objectives sections for now. I keep flitting between different things so it might sound like I'm doing loads but I'm actually only managing 200 or 300 words at a time. I am now going to make a start on the introduction and context section. I'm starting to find working on it all quite stressful but I'll persevere for a while longer...

S

I really can't concentrate on my grant application any more.

My next goal is to go back to my journal paper. I thought this was more or less finished but have realised there is a body of literature which I really should include and doing that will mean cutting out more words from the analysis. :-( My next goal is to include this literature within my introduction.

I'm having a really unproductive day, and feeling slightly panicked that I have a meeting with my supervisor on Monday and at this rate will have nothing to show him! Yikes. Really must pull my finger out this afternoon and get on with redrafting my questionnaire.

S

I have got to the stage of the day where I can't write anymore. I wanted the article finished by today but I'm still not there.

My next goal is to find and skim a few relevant papers for a section I need to put in my grant proposal.

S

This morning I WILL finish my journal article.

A

so will I :-)

B

Morning all.

I didn't do anything yesterday because of the shock of everything that had happened, and I was literally exhausted!

I also don't think I'll get much done today because my fiance will be home from work at 11:30, and I can never concentrate when he's about! So goals for this morning are:

Goal 1- read everything written
Goal - get some writing done before other half gets home.

Good luck all!

S

I'm glad to know I'm not alone in working this morning! (I hate working at the weekend).

The introduction took me longer than I expected. Next up is the conclusion.

S

Conclusion done (just needed to add a short paragraph). I thought after that I'd be ready to send it to my supervisor but realised there were a couple of issues with the format of the data extracts so next up I need to sort those out.

S

Article finished and sent to supervisor. Woo!

Happy weekend everyone!

B

You're not alone! I also hate working at weekends, especially when it's so quiet on here!

Goals 1 and 2 are done.

Goal 3- finish section I'm writing now before a late lunch. Not sure how possible this will actually be, seeing as my other half is home from work and is sat behind me watching Friends whilst crunching his crisps! I'm hoping he'll go upstairs on his xbox soon!

B

Well doen Star-Shaped!

I have also been productive and wrote 1500 words even with distractions! I've got a few things to sort out but I might do a bit of thinking about approaching participants later.

Enjoy the rest of your Saturday!

A

Good for you Star-shaped and Button (hope you are recovered). I too finished my article and emailed to my supervisor.

I don't really mind working at the weekend having worked shift work for many years. What I mind is the 7-day week which I feel I have been doing for ages now. Can't see it likely to change until after I submit. Am feeling sorry for myself today. Still, think positive so it's great to have that article sent off as it was starting to invade my dreams!

B

I've just found out that I've got a meeting with my sup tomorrow, so I'm going to have to do some work today. So my goals are:

Goal 1- plan remaining 2 sections to write
Goal 2- Plan for meeting with sup, any questions I have thought of
Goal 3- Think about how to approach participants
Goal 4- sort forms to take to uni tomorrow
