The One Goal Thread

S

Florence, you don't want to wear yourself out. You deserved to take it easy after staying up most of the night before!

Early start for me today because I'm taking a big chunk out of the day to go swimming and then go out for lunch.

My goal for this morning is to work on analysis until 9.45.

E

Morning all

After a crazy day, today I'll do my best to feel satisfied in the end of the day.

so my 1 goal is to read about Formatting in the Bookends, I do not know how to do that :p

M

Well done florence, that you stuck with it at all to get that much done is a really great sign of perseverance and determination.
My goal for today is to get up to date with the work I was doing before christmas, have to present in two weeks and there's lots of unfinished parts. Hoping to have a good days work done early so i can go to the cinema later.

Right this week has been another complete disaster - cannot put my finger on 1 inch of progress made or work done.

Goal 1 - make it to the office (harder than it sounds - I haven't left the house for 3 days)

Goal 2 - equipment list

Goal 3 - starting point for paper

S

Gah, it's going to be hard going for me this afternoon after a 4 hour swim/lunch break. I did get a lot done this morning though.

My second goal for the day is to input the week's reading into Zotero.

Goals 1,2 & 3 not done. (down)

I haven't done any work at all :-s What's wrong with me? I'm supposed to be smart but I seem to be sabotaging any chance I have at all at doing this PhD. I feel truly rubbish.

S

Oh dear Ev, can you not do goals 2 & 3 without going into the office? Although don't worry about it, we all have our low moments.

I have done my literature stuff- next up I have a very boring paper to read.

E

It is rainy weekend, so I'll not go to anywhere. Maybe only to watch a movie.

my goal 1 is to finish 5 references between my hands!!!!!

S

Morning Emaa! The weather here isn't too bad, no rain yet today!

I can't quite bring myself to do anything too strenuous on a Saturday morning, so my goal is to read a couple of articles.

hello all!

I had a REALLY lazy day yesterday, I tidied up my living room, sent 1 email! and watched "he's just not that into you" which was nice. I feel a bit more relaxed now. I also had my first glass(es) of wine for 2 years last night, and as a result got mashed out of my head on half a bottle before 7pm :$

I'm feeling quite motivated at the mo - one of those rare periods in the PhD. I showed my work to my (usually harsh) supervisor - the one in industry, and he really liked it! Which I can't quite believe, and everything else seems to be going well. However, I often have these 'feel good' times and take a week or so off for some reason, and then it all crumbles around my head when I start missing deadlines again - so must crack on and actually get stuff done, not take a week off!

My goal for today - finish the stupid analysis that I've been doing all week.

I still have about 10 to do, so really need these done by weds next week!

Right I really want to get back on track with work so I intend to work 4 hours this afternoon and hopefully tomorrow too (also need to spend alot of time trying to fix relationship which is going down the drain). So goal 1 - read new method an make list of apparatus needed.

E

Morning all

It is raining, so today also I'll stay at home.
I have to write about 5 points today.
so goal 1 the first point 'severe'

just been out with the dog and now soaked through yuk! I spent yesterday helping hubby with his PhD - which is good for me because if he gets to be Dr. then it means I feel I can use the title too - which then gives me motivation to finish mine! I'm helping him again today. He's going to help me with finding government stats for mine though (he's a civil servant) so it works out well!

C

I have to write about 3000 words by tonight. :(

But first goal is to fill in the gaps of Section 3 (about 1000 words, I think) before mid-afternoon.

P

@ Sneaks - why can't you use your Dr title unless your husband completes his PhD? seems a bit harsh!
