Morning everyone, how are you feeling today? it's another gloomy weather here this morning.
Want to take half day off this afternoon to give my brain a break (as I haven't had time off since Friday (correction, it was Wednesday when I went to the lakes)... no, the trips to the garden centre doesn't count as breaks!)
I have about 80% of the lit I need for the chapter I'm writing, so I think I will make a start on writing it, so that I can then see where I need more lit. So task for this morning is to plan the arguments in the chapter and organise it in a logical manner (the bit I find the hardest to do). Then I will move all the notes I've made into the right order on my thesis.
Happy working :)
You seem to be working hard Pinknumbers, I hope you get to take a break this afternoon!
I was out early this morning for supervision at 9. My first goal for today now that I'm back home is to focus for 2 tomatoes, type up some notes from supervision and start to act on things which came up with my analysis.
Got my first 2 tomatoes and lunch out of the way.
My next task is to put together 2 collections of phenomena. This is extremely tedious so for now my goal is to work on it until 2pm.
Thank you both for your kind comment :) I'm not doing very well, but I'm good at making it look like I've done loads! lol.
Well, the weather is turning worse here, so I'm going to put off my afternoon of gardening till tomorrow. Back to the writing I guess. :-(
I'm going to finish writing the section I started this morning, then I'm going to start on another section, probably just putting things into order and deciding on the main arguments.
Moonblue - have you tried going outside and getting the sun (if you have one!) for half an hour, I always find I don't feel so sluggish after a dose of sun :)
Went to a doctoral seminar this morning - end-of-first-year upgrade presentations by people who started their PhDs three month before me. Terrifying! They all got asked loads of really difficult or awkward questions. I'm dreading it being my turn to do that. And now I'm scared I'll never have done enough and they'll just tear my Methodology to shreds.
Oh well, that's some motivation to get some work done! Task for this afternoon - to plan out the paper I need to write and make a decent start on it.
Hello all!
Yesterday I managed to finish my goal and then went to a frind's graduation and then for lunch (a big Greek lunch with load and loads of food and drink!!!!)
This morning I spent it all at the hairdresser's (nice girly thing)....
And now I must spend the afternoon on my PhD...
So, first goal for today: Type notes from several papers for supervision next week... This should keep me busy for a couple of hours, as there are quite a lot of papers....
Goal 2 is done. Put one collection together faster than expected and realised that I more or less put the other collection together a while back.
My next goal is to work on some analysis for the next 2 hours.
Even though I'm not yet officially at my Uni, I've been front-loading research. I was feeling overwhelmed the other day by the fiction and non-fiction reading lists posted on the fridge, so I made myself weekly goals:
I wrote the title of a fiction and a non-fiction text on each Friday square in my calendar for the next couple of months, and I put a post-it on each book with the corresponding date. This way I know which book is in process and which book to pick up next. Today's goal: Get another 50 pages done on this week's NF book, with notes, and as many pages done on the week's Fiction book.
Good luck everyone on your goals!
Yay, I have a decent essay plan and have somehow managed to squeeze 400 words out of my tired brain. Maybe this won't be too bad! (Famous last words...) Goal of the rest of today: get as much written as I can.
I just can't write any more!
Do you ever get to the stage where your brain just can't untangle even the simplest logical knots?
I feel guilty for abandoning work so early, but I think I need to stop and rest now.
Hope your work is getting on better than mine :)
Morning all! I don't have that much time today, I am doing a professional development course this afternoon and promised to go into town for lunch beforehand.
So this morning my goal is to do 5 tomatoes working on analysis.
Good morning!!!!!!!!!
I have been working since 8 (local time, so 6 UK time). I have finished with the plan for my an analysis chapter. I don't know what else to do for today....
I think I will start reading some of the papers I read last year, as I don't rememebr them very well.
So, my first goal for today is to read at least 5 papers!
