Who's doing the weirdest PhD?

Quote From bendypaperclips:

I knew it would make people smile!! :-)

Alas, I shall not have big biceps... (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGhKlXtfvlc) it's more of a work out for the stalion :$ but the result is what I'm interested in. We have some really amazing equipment to use to look at the sperm cells see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnhL73oBNvg

Oh I could talk to you all day about it but I won't bore you. Have a look at the second video though - it's intesting - honest ;-)

I'm sorry BendyPaperClips, reading back over this, I can't help thinking of an old episode of Bones called Death in the Saddle.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bones_(season_3)

Look up the episode list (number 3). Plain weird!!!

hmmm interesting - retinas are now scarred after finding out what it was... Google you are wrong! :$

Time to revive this - any more strange PhDs people have heard of???

This one has just been offered by Cambridge University.

Anyone want to be a Doctor of Chocolate?

Ian

P

Oooooo I definitely think I got into the wrong area of research. I'm looking into antibiotics and resistance so while possible useful nowhere near as weird or as interesting as researching non-melty chocolate.

W

I'd put myself up for that Ian but I'm already an expert in the field of chocolate ;-p

Time to revive this again.

Another oddball PhD. This lass became a burlesque dancer as part of her PhD studies.

Quote From magictime:

Back when I was a valuable member of society working in the marketing department of a major corporation, I used to sit behind a desk eight hours a day, writing letters from a man who didn't exist to millions of people I'd never met, in an attempt to persuade them to spend money they didn't have on things they didn't want, thus lining the pockets of yet more people I'd never met.

Lovely! I love this quote!! (up)8-)

I think it was actually Dorothy L. Sayers.

Another bump - if you want strange, take a look at this lot!!!

Apparently bats perform fellatio and it extends copulation.

Love this thread! hahaha

M

I know of someone who did a PhD on fellatio in the Ancient world... plus, said student has a tick that makes her lick her lips every couple of minutes...

It's always good to empathise with one's subject... ;)

Bump to cheer you all up!!! :-)

On a serious note. The Tories are always looking for ways to save money. If they read this thread I think they would have a few ideas about how to cut research funding and to be very frank I think we would be hard pressed to defend some of these research themes at a time when disabled people are having their benefits cut. Blue sky research is one thing but some of these research areas are simply taking the piss.
