My program is a PhD program for 3 years for full-time students and after 18 months to 24 months you should do an upgrade from Mphil to PhD, each student will have 2 chances to do that if the 2nd time doesn't work , the student will have Mphil degree only!! yes I am happy with my topic and my supervisors as well and I had my research plan approved 2 years ago so this is not a problem at all, the problem now that it was shocking for me and to my supervisors that I did not get the transfer because my documnet( 6 chapters) was not approved by the examiners for the reasons mentioned above! we thought that they should see that I am working and I did my pilotwork, ready to start with my main study and have the ability to discuss my work but it seems is not convencibg enough, thats my main concern for the next transfer. I will do my best to do all their recommendations but I have my fears now.

Hi BKA, from what you wrote ("according to their comments today that they want me to continue the analysis of last chapter in order to help me to generate my unique contribution to knowledge") it may be the case that they feel that your writing is too descriptive and that you need to put more emphasis on your ideas. What are your main contributions to the field? How does your work changes the way people will look at your topic? Maybe you need to explain this more clearly to them?

My supervisors apologised for not being active lately and not reading my transfer chapters before my submission. They said that they will help and read my chapters and we will try to do the examiners feedback ( the thesis panel want to make sure that my supervisors should read every single chapter) but I can not guarantee that, they are always saying something but they did the opposite.

I would like to know if you know anyone with similar situation and had the opportunity to pass the 2nd transfer? I am really worried thinking about my 2nd transfer and if I am lucky to pass or not? I did not came abroad for MPhil?? for me its a PhD failure.
I am still suffering and under shocked. I don't know what to do, and how to focus forward?

Just do the amendments that your examiners ask you. And since your supervisors have promised to read your docs, you should be alright. Their reputation is at stake, so they will be careful to make sure you pass your first milestone/upgrade to PhD the second time round. So, just calm down and focus on your work at hand. You will be fine. Btw, an Mphil is not a failed PhD. I have friends who actually intentionally did an Mphil, not a PhD.

Hi Tru, thank you so much for your reply. Actually your comment made my day. I think you are totally right their reputation is at stake , this is 100% true. I will do my best and what the examiners asked me to do so I really hope that I can get the upgrade next time I submit my work. PhD is my dream so when I did not get the upgrade , it was like a failure for me and I was embarrased because I am really a hard worker. Again, thanks for your comment.
