PhDs are bad for you

I lost 10lbs in the last six weeks of writing up (no time to eat!) - mind you, I was quite pleased about it! Apart from that my sight is not as good as it was, had perfect vision pre-PhD now decidely dodgy. I have decided that this is 100% due to staring at computer screens and nothing to do with getting older! You are right, PhDs may be good for the mind but I don't think the rest of the body gets much benefit!

You need to be a medical doctor to be able to do an MD (Medical Doctorate). I think if your friend is a medical sciences BSc graduate then he/she will only be eligible for the Mphil or PhD route. Clinicians will usually do an MD instead of a PhD but I do know some academic clinicians who have both.

Tom Cruise in Top Gun? Strangely though, I've never thought him particularly attractive in any other film.

I really don't get the Alan Rickman thing, however I'm looking forward to seeing the new Harry Potter and I will go with an open mind!
