Hi Emmaki and Karlb123
In this research the idea is not to really see if the pilot has a good hand eye coordination or not...the main aim is to see how glucose levels affect the mental state of the pilots. Karl, I think that it will be more interesting to compare hypoglycemic, normal and hyperglycemic. Look at all the 3 conditions. But for this I would assume that you first need to confirm with the blood tests if the pilot has which of these 3 conditions and then correlate his qualiative answers with the specific reading of his blood glucose (quantitative).
however, I'm not sure how you are planning to recruit your participants? you probably need to contact the Aviation industry and get their approval. Then it will be very tricky to actually publish your results because like Emmaki said, if for example you found out in your results that most of the pilots were hypoglycemic before take off or while they were on duty then this would mean that it impairs their decision making. But how would you publish this? your results could mean that the pilots couldnt be efiicient at work. This could make the aviation industry in more trouble than it is already in these days!
So, I think if you have the freedom to change this topic then look at another potential group of focus...such as students in nursery, highschool and how hypo/hyper/normal glycemic conditions affects their concentration in the class and their performance?
Good luck!

Hi Regifter10,
I'm sorry but I cannot fill such questionnaires without knowing about you your background and your details (which department University and whats your thesis title etc) cos I would like to cross check your auntenticity before I enter my personal details on the internet. So, the best would be to just take anaonymous survey without asking us to provide contact details and so on? besides you dont need it unless you are gona follow up on our responses?

Hi Artista
thanks a lot for your kind reply and for sharing your experience. I will wait until tomorrow and if they wouldnt have mailed by then I'm planning to send them an email Thursday morning. I understand that paperwork takes time like a week or so but I think they should first say a yes or no and then take as long as they want for the formal process. :-)
Pray for me everyone!!!!
AJ
Hi Ady
Well during my interview they said that I would know the results by Monday or Tuesday or latest by mid week. However they took the decision on Thursday itself. I know I should wait until tomorrow but Im just curious how they announce the results for the successful candidate. Cos I have an experience of a previous application where I wasnt successful and they emailed me that I wasnt selected. But if I do get selected then I dont live in the UK so maybe they need to give me a hard copy stating the rules and conditions of the studentship along with the offer letter saying that Im accepted blah blah....its weird how different Uni's work differently...OK now I will keep repfreshing my email every 5 mins and also keep checking my phone.
AJ
hi pixie
thanks for the reply...Well im nervous cos if i dont hear from them today or tommrow then my chances are quite slim. So I thought maybe tehreis a possibility that im selected and its taking them time to prepare an offer letter? Do you think it could cause delay or am i imagining that i got it?
AJ
Dear All
When you get an email if you ahve been accpeted into a PhD studentship do they normally have to attach an acceptance letter to that email? Has there been cases where they just send you an email that you got it but without any formal cover letter? especially fi it was a studentship?
Thanks
AJ
Dear Sandepn
I think its hard to study in 10000 Dollars or Pounds in the UK or US. Because the tution fees itself is around 13500 Pounds in the UK for international students. Plus you can add your living costs etc to around 1000 pounds per month minimum so you would need 13500 +12000 as a minimum.
Check for relevant scholarships that each Uni may have they may waive some fees if you have a good CV
hope this helps!
Good luck!!!

I have lived for stduies and work in over 6 countries in teh EU over the past 4 years. And the result of that is that I can live on bread or a big meal, survive hot and cold climates, get rich and get poor. i love differnt cultures and meeting people from differnet parts fo the world. And my knowledge in my suject area has taken a giant leap in all these years by exchanging ideas and seeing practical things in so many places. Invaluable experience guys!!!!
I am scared of spiders, pythons and grissley bears too but doesnt stop me doing to different places! We have to overcome our fears to see beautiful things in the world...you only got one life and im pretty sure you dont wana just end up growin old in the same city and not having seen beautiful places? I know some could but I couldn't do that! I need stories and experiences to tell my grandchildren!
AJ
Hi Serious.
Depends on if you are looking for PhD funding (full/partial/no) because there maybe a tough competition if you want a fully funded PhD. If you had some other source of funding maybe the Uni will not scrutinize your CV so much. So, take the suggestions that other made here and keep the relevant things on your CV or just work around a bit. Painting houses involves a lot of planning, preparation and work. So, split that into smaller tasks that you did and you would get something to wirte down.
Good luck!

Hi Mikal007,
You would find it extremely hard to do a PhD in Health Economics if you don't have a firm basis in it at a Masters level. And for you to do a Masters in HE you need to have strong quantitative skills and have an interest in numbers. Are you good at Math? If you are then it would be an advantage..
