Anyone used this? isit any different from Office 2007? I'm just trying to get Office sorted on my computer at home and this is what seems to be available now.

I 'm not sure about comic sans. It would definitely stand out, but agree on the wishy-washy-ness of it.
I'm a big fan of calibri but it does seem to be used a lot.

I'd put <.01 for .001 but -.06 is to two decimal places so I would put this instead of <0.01.

I hope that is clear. I'm struggling to make this sentence make sense for some reason (lack of tea probably!)

This thread has really made me laugh. I talk to my cat but have never made him answer back...maybe I'll try it sometime though.

Don't think you're going mad, everyone has their little strangities. My boyfriend and I have recently been says "shoes" to each other in silly voices. I don't really kknow why and if anyone else heard they'd probably think we were both mad!

Anyway I'm a bit happier, one of them put the recycling out last night when I'd forgotton :-) and the kitchen is fairly clean.

whenever I've taught undergraduates seem to hate peer marking/review. They don't see the feedback as valuable as that given by the tutor and they don't see they learn from marking each other. Anyway I wouldnt' feel bad about it, you didn't set the task, and in any case sometimes students have to do things they don't want to. I'd have a word with the course convenor so he knows what response the task got, and maybe have a word with the guy about his comments....perhaps suggestions about how to be more tactful. Reading between the lines it seems there is maybe something between the two students that has nothing to do with this class.

I've been meaning to come back and thank you guys for your suggestions. First presentation session is next week. Still thinking of how to make it more interesting. May make everyone ask one person a question. Or get them into small groups (each including one presenter) and getting them to talk about the journal article so they can discuss it without having to do so in front of the whole group.

I'd still welcome any more suggestions.

As for the computer issues one class has now been moved to a computerless classroom. The other... I may ask evreyone to hand over their mouse! or possibly getting tech people to disable the internet for an hour....that'll confuse the students :p

I live in a shared house with my boyfriend and three others. My gripe is their inability to do any cleaning (well apart from my boyfriend who cleans cos I can tell him too!)

The options I've come up with are...

(1) Passive agressive persuasion a la "I've just cleaned the kitchen, if you want to show your appreciation why don't you hoover the stars?"

(2) Threats "Do some cleaning or I'll move out then you'll all have to find somewhere else to live" - long story but only my boyfriend and I are on the tenancy so if we moved one of them would have to take over or we'd lose the whole house.

(3) Set up a rota

(4) Just carry on doing some cleaning when it needs doing and hope they join in.

This thread is slightly tongue in cheek in that I'd never go with option 2 I just fancied a rant after once again coming home to find someone had spilt stuff all over the hob (milk this time) and just left it for someone else to wipe up (me) I'd leave it too but it would have burnt on when I wanted to cook. :-s

Emmaki, I'd have thought at most universities you can get an interlibrary loan. At mine it costs £2 per article but it gets you things that you could not otherwise get.

I think this is a fairly interesting topic. I've asked friends to get me papers that my Uni does not subscribe to, but I've always thought it was probably in some way wrong. I suspect if you asked someone in the library whether it was ok to send a PDF to a friend at another university they'd tell you it was not ok.

That said .... does anyone have access to this journal.......:p

It's the tips of my fingers that get cold the most so fingerless gloves just don't work for me.

My recommendation of the week is do a big cook on sunday. As well as making Sunday's dinner I made a big casserole that did for dinner last night and enough for tonight. The remaoning (uncooked veg) will make a stir fry tomorrow. Easier and cheaper than grabbing something quick on the way home.

AS far as i know most univrsities have a minimum of 2 years to complete (and most people take 3-4). Afraid I can't reall help on the subject area either but hopefullysomeone else on here can.

and yes I've wasted lots of money on scratch cards (once won a tenner) and lottery tickets (once won £120). Paid out way more than I've ever won!
