Computer deffo aainst me. It removed all my smilies from my message. There should have been a :-s and a ;-) in there!

All the problems I currently have to do with my PhD can be traced back to computers! I love them (for going on facebook and other sites to time waste!) and hate them (mainly cos they don't do what I want and I don't know how to make them!)

Anyone else got something to blame their problems on?
Or some stories about computers, preferably ones that involve them flying out of 7th floor windows!

I've got a student account with HSBC they were happy to put me back on student terms (after I'd worked for 4 years) though it did take them a while to umm and ahh about it before deciding it was ok. I don't know how ethical they are though.

I got a proffessional development loan to do my masters. I don't know if the rates were any good cos I'm not very money savvy :$ Anyway Ended up workign through masters so don't spend the money and jsut paid it off at the end instead of over 5 years.
I guess I'd advise looking at what you plan to do after, if going on to a PhD you still have to start paying off the loan 6 months after the loan period ends. This might be difficult to pay off even if you get funding for a PhD.

I love the new forum, but cannot cope with the fact the newest posts are first. I know you can change it, but I keep forgetting and reading from the top and getting sooo confused!

I tried to put all my information in one info sheet when I went for NHS ethics, and got told it was confusing and needed changing. For my resubmission I ended up splitting the info sheet so that I have three different ones and this was accepted.

I use APA 5th, and mostly all is normal, but two references come up wiht the initially preceeding the name within the text. I don't think it's to do with inputting, as I take thinkgs directly from either pubmed or web of science.
Any idea why it's like this or what can be done?

you'll really notice the difference outside London. Sometimes wish I'd stayed up north to do PhD.
Provided you don't start with a lot of debt a 13K studentship is very livable. I don't go crazy with spending, but I do go out, and I do trea myself to some stuff, and at the end of my first year my out goings are a bit less than my incomings.

i bought one of those tops, but have since decided it makes me look awful. My boyfriend seems to like it for some reaon though! Anyway I now find ebay the best place for shopping, you can do it on a procrastination break and don't even have to leave the office!

I have three supervisors each with lots of knowledge in three very different areas. None of them know how it all fits together, as they have limited knowledge of the other two areas.

mine is due... well now. I was told July, which I took to mean end of July! At present I've barely started but I plan to have it done in two weeks. Timing may be slightly unrealistic though!
