They didn't lie...

I found that article so terrifying. I related to many of the other students reactions to study - esp self criticism and disordered eating. Hmmm these demons haven't been seen since my MA....but I do worry when the going gets tough....eekkk...

Still I must be eternally vigilant...

I'm loving endnote so much...

...I want to have its babies...

Honestly. What a gem!

Yes, my sup's are hyper organised!!!

JoJo, don't be fooled by the Upper Brook Street trek - remember an organised student who worked properly would not need to do this!

I am woefully lazy and poorly organised!

how to deal with tiredness

Wow! Another Manchester student....there's at least three on here now!

What school are you in?

Yeah, after a sleep on the living room floor -grabbing a randon quilt stored on an armchair, I feel pleasantly refreshed. I have four weeks left to write my lit review.

And, my sup is lovely.....just has high standards I want to meet! Off to do more readng too...I totally know what you mean by needing to read a lot to look like you know a little - this is me in every supervision!

ARGH!
I went to bed at 1.30 am and woke up at 4.30 am to finish a plan for my literature review for my supervisor today. But he is off sick! So I needn't look like a zombie today! Argh! Oh well, I guess as a responsible and mature PhD student I would have done it even if he wasn't going to look at it. Honest. ;-)

Translation help & joys!

I only know basic conversational Swedish, but I can read museum published natural history texts (the Swedes are fab at these!)okay, with a bit of help from a dictionary. It has got to the stage where I can read words and recognise what they mean - but have no idea how they sound!!! Especially things like twelve letter compound words!

Don't ask me! I'm off for a country walk with my crush tmrw....I really should be getting on with my lit review (due Dec 20th) but how can I pass up the offer of a country walk and a pub lunch!

I know, I'm naughty and lazy.....

argh...I'm an awful PhD student!
C

yeah...I used to kid myself I work better under pressure too. I figured that I will start working slowly and steadly towards my pre-Christmas deadline. I don't want to have a miserable mid-december because I've left everything until then.

I'm still getting to grips with endnote...

argh...I'm an awful PhD student!

My handwriting resembles that of a five year old (left handedly smudged, huge and written in unjoined hand) but I still prefer handwritten to typed notes...

Anyway...off to enlighten myself on the Scottish Enlightenment.

I managed to get through undergrad and a MA without really taking notes from my reading, and working right before deadlines (after not doing much hitherto). Since a PhD rewards (and demands) completely different study patterns I'm finding it really difficult. It may sound stupid...but I am having to completely rework my study strategy.

Today will be a new leaf - I will take notes from reading, I will work towards my lit review.....I must...

...or else face the chagrin of my supervisor(s) at the monthly meeting...
