They'll kiss you soon Jojo.

After my supervision tmrw I am off to buy a pumpkin - I'm going to a fancy dress party with my date. I shall be going as a spooky scarecrow/pumpkin man wearing a real pumpkin head!

With everything going on....MUST concentrate on the supervision and my work!!!!

Well after spending 30 an hour at work writing a blog comment and then accidentally 'mashing' the keyboard and deleting it - I have finally written the full gossip.

Food: I dunno...you could cook Brownies (Nigella Lawson's recipe is fantastic!) or if he seems like the healthy sort...oatmeal cookies, flapjacks or bran muffins?

Nope - I don't work on any tuesday (Phd full day for me!) but if the guy who served you was wearing black framed glasses and was cute... that's the guy I like.

And ps- I'm sure I would have been able to find that book!

I think we should play a guessing game.....every time you go into Rylands have a peek and send me a post 'is that you chrisrolinski' ? with a brief description. lol
There's not that many male members of staff so it should only take a while...

flirting tips anyone?

Urm, I dunno. I'm trying to attract the attentions of a colleage at the mo'. I'm not sure what measure of success I am having, but he seems to talk to me, and laugh....so maybe I'm not going totally wrong.

Maybe a new lipstick?

Or food?

boyfriends, girlfriends, hubbies, wifes... how do they cope with phd blues...

*crossed wires*

Urm...that's a kind offer but...I'm actually a guy. I am rather effete though in my writing style - tis' an easy mistake to make so no need to be embarrased. lol

*sobs piteously*

I wish I had a boyfriend to cope with my PhD blues!

Seriously though, anybody I was with would need to understand the demands of a PhD and be willing to put up with 'funny turns' every time a piece of work is due or a supervision is iminent!

Of course they also have to be funny, caring, smart and attractive.

Demanding, moi?

***Full or Part Time Study***
C

In my case I fully intended to study part-time: I pregistered part-time and paid fees. At the last minute, I was offered a fees only full time studentship. I had to take this opportunity. So now I have a lot on my plate- I have to work for all my living expenses. It is hard to balance full time study and a lot of hours, and I will probably struggle later on, but maybe by then I will have been succesful in an AHRC app. Until then, I can't see any other option: I wasn't going to turn down full time tuition fees paid for three years! That would have been madness!

I'm not sure what to advise- some people can take on more than others, but it is worth a try. Sometimes I'm not realistic but I seem to be getting the work done.

Is your PhD making you grumpy?
C

Kind of reminds me of when students come up to me in the library and ask me to help them find stuff. I mean, it is my job so I don't mind helping....like first years...but when you have to help third years use the library searches I want to scream: 'how did you get this far!?' :-S

Last week a student came up to me and asked 'Where is the piece of John?' After about thirty seconds later of incredulity I realised she was referring to the fragment of John's Gosepl in the University Special Collection...and directed her to it. But what a way for a degree student to phrase a question!!!!
