fingers and toes crossed for a paper acceptance!

I sent a paper proposal off to a journal editor and although they can't say for certain for another two or three weeks, they strongly hinted that my proposal would make the final listing. So excited and nervous. It would be my first journal article and would really help me feel confident in my viva next year. If I get the go ahead then the paper is already 2/3 written to I can spend the deadline period polishing it and redrafting.

Waiting tentatively.... :-) :-0

chronology conundrum - how to historicise my case studies
C

This is more of a self-indulgent mope than a plea for help - I know there aren't that many historians on here. :-(

I had feedback for a chapter today, and whilst my sups think it is well written, uses a good range of sources, and has some origniality - they point out that it lacks a clear chronology and thus a strong historicised element. Before my panel in early October I have to address this problem. They've pointed this out before, I am know I need to address it. I just find it so hard.

I don't understand it. I'm a historian who can't historicise! :-( ;-)

I can get together interesting material and write it up well enough - I just need to form a historical argument. I have great material and I just need to form it into a meta-narrative.

Well off to get the felt pens and graph paper....timelines here we come.

I reward myself with sleep, and then self-punishment and deprecation because nothing is ever good enough

Am I the only one working on a Saturday??

Thanks, always back up to email and usb. I lost too much work as a undergraduate to do that now! I used to loose essays in the middle of the night = the day before they were due in. my old laptop was awful!

I had supervisions every four weeks for the first year and a half, i now get them every six weeks or so...

Night y'all

I didn't manage to finish my chapter last night, so I am up tonight doing it until I have finished it. I did some work this afternoon, and probably have four or five hours left.... I hope.

I am currently adjusting a conference paper to insert into my chapter and then I only have to write a conclusion. and format the bliography then I am done.

I reckon I can have this done by 3 am. I think. God, 6 hours and it will all be over.

Generally the closer towards september the letter arrives the better, apparently. I must be the exception though: I once got a rejection at the end of August, and the other time I got an acceptance at the end of July.
