And I think the fact that your supervisors would not have seen the bouhgt thesis develop over time, would mean that it would be virtually undefendable in a viva?

I suppose one can buy a PhD in the same way that one can buy love or respect. I would have thought that beyond the 'glory' of the title, purchased PhDs are worthless in the academic community, and laughed at in the media when unearthed... cf. Gillian McKeith.

I wouldn't exactly phrase it as "modulate identity"! lol

But, I would describe myself as a PhD student working in cultural histories of animals. My intellectual work also compliments my personal interests in animal rights and environmental issues. So I see my identity as more complimentary than so distinct.

I really don't know much about him or the details of his work. I know he has public teaching commitments and takes seminars. His professorial position must take up some time, I guess.

Well, he has an office and pigeonhole in the creative writing dept. The poster was defaced to suggest that Amis' recent publication was bigoted and racist. It has been replaced.

I work in the same building as Martin Amis, or rather at least where his pigeonhole is. His post is directed on, suggesting he doesn't come in much. Also, a number of posters advertising his appointment in the building were altered by students.

I'm just waiting for the feedback meeting next week

Looking back over the chapter, it really isn't that hot.
