Hmm, hypothesis - pearly whites v erosion. I'm trying the honey. All surface, no feeling!

Hmm. No honey in the cupboard - maybe Lyle's Golden Syrup will work?

Sillybilly - I totally understand. I had trigeminal neuralgia in the past (induced by braces!) so hated people poking around in my mouth.

I'll have to bite the bullet too!

I thought it was people without teeth than drank through straws!

For four years I had braces, and a perfectionist Orthodontist.

I was left with straight teeth that were pearly white, but now constant cups of tea have stained them horribly. I can imagine my orthodontist with his clipped Geman accent vividly now, chastising me!

I am on my third cup of tea today, and it is 11:30 am, sigh. I am working until midnight tonight on a paper so, at least 5 more...

What to do...sigh.

Is undertaking a doc for pleasure a contradiction in terms?

Pleasure isn't my primary motivation though since I do want a academic career. I suppose when doing a PhD for pleasure it is important to remember that the demands of a PhD are not those of a hobby. The PhD has to fit particular formats and be completed with rigour in a defined space of time. Not a totally relaxing pastime!

I think it is an excellent idea. But as the previous poster says the pleasure derived does wax and wane somewhat.

google books - a suprisingly amazing resource!!!!!!
C

Googlebooks has saved my life! I normally disparage research using google - but this resource is far from 'wiki'. I have been looking for some Regency material for ages (early 19th c) and have found it online on googlebooks. With a majority of books, magazines etc fully searchable and you can download it as a Pdf. Some annoyingly aren't. Boooo!

But yes, at best if I had heard of these texts I would have to find a special collections library to view them - at worst. I would have never heard of them! And at 1am today when I was searching golddust, pure golddust (writhes in glee!) - I thought, thank you google....thank you ;-)

help...has anybody heard of a publication called 'Discovery'?
